  • Serial port format ??

    I am trying to build a shutdown controller board for my car PC and while at it I will include the temperature sensor circuit on the same board.

    What does the serial port expect to read from the temperature sensor board in order to display the correct information in Road Runner ?

    Great work Guino

    and Thanks

    In this site you find the documentation, there and also the file source .asm.
    However it is not assembled with MPASM by Microchip, but with the old GPASM.
    If you succeed in creating the file. hex for the P12C509 make to know me that we develop or proper hardware.

      It's as simple as this:
      1: 72.6
      2: 34.6
      1: 72.8
      2: 34.4
      etc.

      it basically sends the data as the number of the sensor and temperature reading of sensor (cycling through all available sensors) -- The input scale can be F or C and can also be showed in F or C, all setup by INI file. The current board supports 4 Temp. sensors, but if you add more, I'll add support for more. Also, if you'd like to change the format for your board, I can add support for it as well.. this is all very simple stuff to do, so just let me know...

                Guino.

                1. Their are no tempx setting in the RR.ini file. I tried useing the Configuration programm to set the communication port for the sensors but it does not write anything in the .ini file. The TEMPx setting is missing completely.

                2. With what baud rate do you communicate with the serial port.

                  Oops... my goof on that one. Sent fix to Guino.

                    I'll look at it since I'll have add a few more options anyway...

                    ALSO: My bad on the temp data format.. it's just:
                    "1 0045.67" instead of "1: 45.67" -- Although, my code can probably parse the two formats just as well.

                    this is the setting I currently use for the Temperature sensor:
                    baud=2400 parity=N data=8 stop=1

                      See this link:
                      http://www.patron.net.pl/VBNETGCC/VB.htm

                      One simple interfacce to read the tamper whit DsS8B20 or DS18S20 ( the DS1820 is obsolete , dallas semiconductor have replace whit the two tipe of chips), DS18S20 replace perfect the DS18B20, the version B no(if i remember well!).
                      Source code complete, simple interface, adapt for big RR comunity, and free.
                      Its possible implement thi project for reading the tamper whit RR?

                      DS1820 reading tamper connect to LPT port, very simple hardware.....

                          I actually took the time to update the screen shots on my site with images of RR with the temperature sensors working.. people had especulated if they worked, so now you've got proof..

                            @Guino
                            This project use how transmission serial 19200 bauds, instead RR and setting to read a hardware-tamper to 2400 bauds.
                            In theory and possible to change the RR code and to systematize to read to 19200 bauds?
                            Could this project be suited for RR instead of yuo hardware that you have used ?
                            And easy to build, it uses instead of a P12C509 a P16F84 (flash type) read 1 to 8 sensor... and it would cost very little, profit for many in the forum, that could build home made....
                            I can build a prototype and to try if you tell me that he is able to adapt RR to use ...
                            What do you think?

                              Dude, just make me a data log of how your Temperature sensor works and tell me the port settings, it's no big deal to add support for more boards.. I used that one because I already had it..
