Guino.... would it be possible for RR to reckonize *.gif files like it's does with *.jpg's
for instance.... adding transparancy to the videoplayer?
cause in the current state it just turns light grey

Ummm.. that depends on what for.. be more specific ?

If you're talking about buttons: No.. if you just want to layer a transparent image on top an area of the screen, I could add a command for that..

Well, in that case, if you want the buttons to the side and stuff, you'd have to make one bug screen with everything and an empty space in the middle for the video.. this is of course not supported by RR right now, but If I make the built in video player, I don't see why not..

I have a similar request so I thought I'd just dig up this old thread...

What I would like to do is have a skin with no background (or a semi-transparent background), and have a video window playing behind it. The video would be from a camera mounted on the front of my car to a video-capture card. This way even while I am looking at my PC I will be watching the road .

Furthermore, if you could make a skin do the same thing over an embedded application rather than a video window, then RR would basically have a native SKINbedder built-in (and I could easily embed VidCap or something to display my front-cam, so it kills 2 birds with one stone).

Does RR support alpha-blended PNGs? For example, can I have a semi-transparent button over the song-list text? I would actually like a scrolling highlight bar over the selected song that is an alpha-blended PNG. Is this type of thing possible in a Flash skin maybe? I know nothing about interfacing flash designs with list-data from RR, is that possible?

Adding this type of support would allow people to make skins that look a lot better and make the entire CarPC experience feel more like an integrated app and less like a bunch of buttons surrounding a square box or text-list.

I know with VB6, you can create a program so that a certain color is transparent. Say pure red or something. You add a box in the center of the skin that's pure red, and layer the other stuff (video) so it shows thru from behind. It's a pretty cool concept, but I'm not sure how hard to implement (it may already be implemented)

Not sure if any of this makes sense, or if it's way below Guino's level.....I'm definately a noob at programming, especially compared to the caliber of RR.

If you search through these threads, Guino has implemented a color that allows transparency. Its pink for those who haven't seen it yet. I tried it on one of my skins, but failed miserably to get it to work. PNG support would be great, but its not that easy to implement. I am sure Guino will get around to it when he can, for now, let him enjoy his holiday !

                        cheers
