  • embed Winc in Road Runner

    was anybody able to embed Winc in Roadrunner?
    it fails to find the right window. after it loads winc it focuses on a gray screen saying "static" on it. anyone got an idea how to solve that?

    cheers

    What's winc ? Have you tried using WinspectorSpy to find the window information ? It's probably embbeding the wrong window with the same title.. if you use winspectorspy, you should be able to set the window title (search string) in this format:

    !<WINDOWCLASSNAME>!<WINDOWTITLE>

    For instance, the AVS window of winamp is set using:

    !Winamp Gen!AVS

    This specifies both the class name and window title to prevent embbeding of the wrong window, so you should be able to embbed the correct window ....

      thanks, this really helped.

      i've downloaded Winspector and then run it on my home pc. i have found out that the main window class name seems to be different all the time, so i decided to only select the most valuable part, because it had a static name.
      to my big surprise, it now does exactually what i originally wanted it to do: it embeds the whole application (don't worry about the window frame you see, it isn't really a real frame, they did a strange thing in order to make the software (or say it's border) skinnable, so this is no windows border, it's a special winc skin .. (stupid if you ask me) )

      btw: the frame around everything is from vnc, since i'm accessing my carpc from inside my home

      here is my ini file in order to load winc:

      [GENERAL]
      PATH = C:\Program Files\Cirond\Cirond Winc\Winc.exe
      TryEmbeddedTimeOut = 5
      WindowSearchString= !AfxMDIFrame70!Winc

      to finally answer your question: winc is a need little utility which connects automatically to open wireless networks and displays some details about them.

      and here's the screenshot:
