  • Phone control in Road Runner

I decided to start this thread since the previous thread about PhocoRR was like 20 pages long...

anyways, post problems, questions, about using phocorr...

    Here go mine:
Phoco isnt finding my phone when I start RR... It appears that it isnt opening the port to look for the phone because I dont see a change in the BTTray icon (which changes color when the Serial port is in use... it changes color when I start phoco, but doesnt change color when I run RR)...

If I run Phoco manually, exit, then re-run RR the icon is already Green (indicating it is connected) then RR detects the phone no problems...

I also find it that RR doesnt like hibernating/finding the phone again/etc... Are you guys also experiencing any of these?

Any ideas for putting a PC in this? :)

Hello, I am trying to get RR to work with phoco without any success.
phoco by itself works great and RR without phoco works but as soon as I alter rrconfig to point at phonecontol.Net.exe, RR will not start. the phoco icon comes up in the system tray but thats as far as it gets. It is not that it is slow loading, it does not load ( left it for over 5 mins ). If you try to right click the phoco icon in system tray and exit, it just reloads again.
I have what I believe is the latest RR ( updated with road runner updater )
      Phoco 1.4.3.19516 registered
      windows 2000 (all updates etc)
      SonyEriccson P900 phone
      Epia 933 motherboard
Does anybody have any idea what, if anything, I am doing wrong?

-did you check the -noDesign option?
-did you set the AddressBook/CallsFile and RingTone paths ?
-have you tried to run Phoco first, then minimize it and run RR to see if it works ?

chances are there's something really wrong going on.. RR will timeout if it can't get phoco started in 10 seconds, and again if it can't stabilish a connection to it in the next few seconds.. so we're talking at most of a few seconds delay to start phoco if not already opened..

          1) if you mean -remoteNoDesign, yes
          2) I think so, I clicked and browsed as far as I could, what should they be?
          3) yes, the phoco icon comes up in the system tray, the hd light does a lot of flashing, then nothing. If I start taskmanager it shows that roadrunner is running, but it is not visible on screen.

i still have problems with my bluetooth software, when i install the newest widcomm 4, i cant open my bluetooth places, and i dont get the options i need when i right click on the bt icon on the taskbar. all i can do is quick connect but still i am not successful in opening my bluetooth places. when trying to find my phone as new device it still has a hard time doing it. and these things happen only when i install my old driver 1.2.x.x.x.x.x and update it widcomm 4. but if i install widdcom 4 with any updates. i cant do anything, it doesnt detect my phone and cant do anything with the driver. any tips? i tried running RR with phoco with my old driver and works fine except i dont have audio gateway, which even when i update it to widdcom 4 i cant get to work with my pc speakers. suggestions pls. thanks

I got a cheap *** bluetooth device at www.Computerlogin.com it was $10 bucks (plus $10 shipping) brand new.. it's a crappy brand.. and has crappy drivers.. I did not install any of it, just installed the Widcomm 4 and patches.. works perfect, and even use the audio gateway in the car to listen through speakers and talk using hands-free mic on my dash. I've done that in two computers so far, never had any issue. So my suggestion is simple, try a different Bluetooth adapter.

What OS are you using.. I am afraid that the code Hematec made for starting Phoco may not work right with Win9X/ME... in which case I'd have to change something around...

Windows 2000 service pack 4 and all updates.
I tried updating the widdcomm drivers for my belkin bluetooth adaptor and got similar problems to the guy above, I could not connect my phone until I removed the widdcom 4 drivers and reloaded the drivers that came with my adaptor. I am now back to being able to use my phone with phoco but not phoco and roadrunner. As I said roadrunner is running (according to taskmanager) but I just cannot see it

May be you should double check your Phoco settings and make sure that it's setup to allow connections (servermode) on the default port... otherwise RR may be stuck trying to connect to it...

                      @ Guino or another boys

Please, write one "full tutorial" for settings, use etc. to Phoco embedded RR.
I am sure that this would help many in the forum to correctly use Phoco

                      Thanks !

I can hardly find time to code right now.. imagine to write tutorials.. anyway, the user "drait" started doing a tutorial awhile ago, but I think he ran out of time as well.. it is a whole lot of stuff to keep up with.

I would try this, but I would not know how. have tried searching this and the phoco forum. could anybody point me in the direction of how to do this.

It's a crappy brand but works allright.. it's definitely not as high-wuality as the $50 ones out there.. The only issue I have so far is that in my carputer, if I boot up the computer with the device plugged in, it sometimes freezes the bios when "Initializing USB Controller" -- ****es me off since the bios has no business messing with my USB stuff unless I tell it to initialize legacy devices (which I don't).
