I'm switching from FP because RR has international language support. What file do I need to modify to display Russian characters correctly? I've tried with internationalization, i tried several different locales (system, russian, europian). Every single program on my computer (XP SP2) displays russian/cyrilic letters, well exept FrodoPlayer. Winamp properly displays all tags. Even the scroll bar in RR displays them. The problem is when i browse or look at the play list.
Thanks a lot for your help

You need to make sure you select a font that supports Russian characters in the .skin files... right now it is probaby set to "arial narrow" (probably doesn't support russian chars)... Other than that, make sure your system's default standards/formats is set to russian OR that you select the approriate locale in RRConfig to russian (as you seem to have done... I used to "force" compatible fonts to where RR would select a font that accepts the select charset, but there were too many complaints about this, so now you have to set the font manually... Also, from your screenshot you're using an older BrushMetal skin -- there's a new one.. There's no limitation as to what fonts you can use in the playlists... here's an example of Chinese...

Sorry to bring back a finished thread, but I am still having same problem.
I modified .skin to fonts that can show Japanese charactors, uncheck "no International", and selected "Japanese" at "locale". What I get is Japanese charactor to show at the top, but not in browsing pages.

        What I am doing wrong?

I'm sorry to bring up an old thread, but I'm having the same problem and I tried everything...

I changed all the fonts to Arial in audio.skin and audio_browser.skin (I tried 3 skins) and the file and folder listings are still displayed as wierd characters for international names.

I set Russian as language for non-unicode programs and russian as the locale in rr settings and unchecked "no international support"

I tried everything, but it still does it.

did you try "russian standards/format" in control panel along with "system" locale in RRConfig ? If so, have you tried a DIFFERENT font in audio_player.skin ? also, may help if you say WHICH line you changed..

yes, I set it under both, separately and at the same time, regional settings and rrconfig... same result

in audio_browser.skin and audio_player.skin files I replaced all "Arial Narrow" by "Arial" for simplistique, BMV2, and BAV2 skins...

also, the problem is not with ID3 tags, but with the actual file/folder names

sorry, after double checking, I found a tiny bug in the latest version(s) with that feature.. this was probably a result of the so many changes to the list control in RR and it was basically lacking the correct property to set the font, so I fixed it and it should work fine on the next release.. in fact, Arial Narrow DOES support russian (I tested it), so you don't have to change the font of the original skin.. not sure about what all languages it would support though.

great! after trying so many things I knew it had to be something in rr...

could you tell me what you fixed so that I can recompile myself and use it for now? (of course binary would be better, but I can wait for next release for that)
