  • Can't Exit RR!

    I recently reinstalled windows xp to try and get my gps working.
    GPS works fine, the only issue is RR.
    opening RR is fine and it plays back fine.

    but when i try and exit by pushing the exit button, it freezes up and i can't exit.
    for some reason, if i rightclick the taskbar at the bottom that highlights RR, i get the option to close (alt+F4) and it exits fine.

    Does this happen after the computer resumes from stand by or hibernation?

        Must be assumining you've uninstalled and reinstalled RR. I've never had this problem with RR.

          by uninstall, you mean delete the original, and reinstall from the zip file?

            By uninstall, I mean uninstall, from control panel, add/remove programs.

                turns out that the newest version doesn't like me
                using 08-08-05 right now, no problems

                  Did you make sure you have the latest flash version installed ? Flash issues can make your CPU load high and cause buttons to be unresponsive.. I'd suggest reading the whole High/CPU & Flash FAQ.

                    Have the same thing on my laptop (w2000). Checked the code it is seems to be looping in the new code that is waiting for either 5 secs of for the SAPI5 voice to be complete. I think the SAPI check is erroring and therefore not checking for the 5 secs to pass. Had no probs on my XP install.

                    Guino, If you want I can investigate a bit further.

                      Ok, found the function that is looping and why. Don't know how to fix it.

                      Problem is in function shutdown of modRoadRunner.bas ->

                      'Wait till nothing else to speak
                      If SAPI5 Then
                      t = Timer
                      While (Not VoiceObj.WaitUntilDone(1)) And Timer - t < 5
                      Sleep 100
                      If Timer < t Then t = Timer
                      Wend
                      Else
                      t = Timer
                      While VoiceObj.Speaking <> 0 And Timer - t < 5
                      Sleep 100
                      If Timer < t Then t = Timer
                      Wend
                      End If

                      The statement VoiceObj.WaitUntilDone(1) is returning error 91

                        seems like the object is already closed... there's a 5 second limit on the loop but if it errors out it won't matter.. I'll take care of it.. thanks for pointing it out.. it would be incredibly hard for me to find the problem without a computer that actually has the issue..

                        EDIT: Fixed...
