If this is what I think, no... unfortunately not... It is something Ive been looking for a way of doing (and so have all my friends who have seen my system)... It just isnt friendly enough for most users to understand Playlists, Select, Select+, ADD1, etc...

Maybe if enough ppl think it is useful guino might find a way of doing this...

have you ever tried making a button on the audio browser with this code: "CLEARLIST||!SELECT" as a play button ? Nothing prevents you from adding song info and such to the audio browser along with prev/next/stop buttons so you can control playback. You could remove the playlist management buttons and just play songs from there without ever leaving the same screen... I really don't understand what the big deal is all about.

Guino, there is no example of the above working. if you can document a alternate method of play/rew/ff commands for the player screen that can do what we are after I'll gladly put it into a proof-of-concept skin...

I have done what you said, and it actually works extremely well! Is there any way of mapping the DirectoryList Click and DirectoryList Double-Click to an exectbl function? (so I can emulate the same command whenever a FILE is clicked or doubleclicked in the Directory Browser)

This really deserves a FAQ IMHO... I''ll post up a modified version of a few skins in the next few days... this is the best thing I have discovered since I stated using RR! I'ma gonna donate very shortly since this was the ONE feature I wished RR had and didnt know it did! I'm so happy!

1 more thing... with this mod, however, we loose PAUSE functionality... any way of regaining it?
          EDIT: SOLVED

I think the best way for directory playing would be if we can capture the Directory List click and file-doubleclcik (dblclicking a file in the browser) and mapping that command to an ExecTBL... that way the Play command remains constant so it will retain Pause functionatlity, and when we click the filename it will start playing through the remapped command...
EDIT: SOLVED FOR DOUBLE CLICK BY ADDING "SELECT","!SELECT" to exectbl! WOOT!

Edit2, the initial excitement is unfortunately wearing off pitty it lasted only a few minutes! hehehe one more problem is the lack of the visual indication of what song in the list is being played (the highlighted song in the filelist doesnt move along in the directory llist as it did in the filelist)
I think the above is all that is missing... any possibilityof perhaps highlighting the current playing song (if it is in the current directory)... if it has gone to another subdirectory then tough luck...

Download zots skin and then put the contents of this zip in the skin folder. (overwrite original files)...

This is a demo of directory browsing... I hope guino has some free time and adds some more things to improve directory browsing, such as making the highlighted song follow when a next sond starts, etc... otherwise it is difficult to know what is playing, what is next, etc... But still it is very good right now! much better in my opinion! Also, single-click might be a useful option if guino can setup a command that we can map on ExecTBL.ini...

I've added the "highlight" option when a new song starts playing..

I need to know what is it that you want the software to do when you single/double click a file.. I've never been keen of this feature but I can add an option so it behaves the way you would like it to --- as long as you tell me what that is..

                        Guino,

Thanks for helping out! It is a much appreciated feature!

Basically, I discovered (through trial and error), then when the Directory list is double-clicked on a file, it will send RR the SELECT command. So I remapped SELECT to !SELECT (skin's ExecTBL)... I would like to have an option of doing the same for single click on a file... for this I'd need an "Event"... so I could add something like "DIRFILE1CLICK","!SELECT" in ExecTBL... that way when any file is clicked once in the dirlist, it will start playing (just like what happens today when I double click)...

ok , if click ".." ( prev. directory) chance a directory.

For example in windows: " browse a file: " select directory , select a file & click.

                              What do you mean???

If you double-click ".." it will go back to the previous directory just like windows... this is normal behaviour and must be there so you can go up to the parent directory...

You should also change the LIST command to BACK so that when you click the List button (useless in my .skin) it will go up a level... then you can use the RRConfig option to hide the ".."...

EDIT: I cant find that option... wasnt there such as option???

How is the new player working for you?
