  • Lock in directory

I was wondering if it's possible to lock the user into a directory, much like what you can do in an ftp server. this would be useful so that when browsing, you can never go as far up as a specified dir. i'll try to make it more clear.

my hd is setup as follows:

    c:\mp3s - music
    c:\movies - divx\xvid

it'd be nice if the music browser locked me into c:\mp3s, that way if i try to browse up a dir it wont let me. same for movies etc. basically i never want to be browsing c:\

    any thoughts?

I asked guino about this but it isnt possible... especially because of browse.rrl... although I think it could be setup as the specified dirs in browse.rrl and rrconfig be the topmost directories....

Guino, my idea i to have something like this:

        Music path = c:\music

when browsing under c:\music you cant ever go above c:\music

if I have a browse.rrl file that maps c:\movies, when I click on the "Movies" entry (from browse.rrl, which takes me to c:\movies) the only place I can go above c:\movies is back to c:\music (where the browse.rrl file is)...

I dunno if this is too much of a pita to do but I think it would allow full use of browse.rrl and also lock the user so my passenger doesnt go "ops, whatam I doing, I'm in the nwndows directory but there are no files here to play"

Yeh I'd like to see this feature too, my family (read: evil-sister!) sometimes uses my carpc too. She goes into panic mode once she's out of the mp3 section and doesn't know how to get back in.

Hell, I sometimes end up there too, and just hold down the browse button to get back to the mp3s...this would help everyone..
