  • Radio and RR

Ok, I can't find an answer, been searching for 20 minutes now.

Anyways, I have an Ampie Case with an M10000 - would like to know which radio tuner works with this board and runs perfectly with RR....

Theres all kinds of "help" and complaints about what doesn't work, etc... But I know someone has one that works out great.

    Thanks guys.

So my best option is a USB card? Or are there issues with the USB version?

Does anyone have success using a certain card with RR on a VIA board. I'm not just looking for what is compatible, but what people are ACTUALLY using on the VIA boards successfully... as in which model.

I suggest the Cinergy 600 -- by far the best choice in my opinion.. it is PCI though... after that, I'd suggest a cheap-O WinTV (PCI or USB -- your choice).. the rest is the rest in my opinion, and even the WinTV isn't that great compared to the Cinergy... regardless, you'll notice that having FM radio in a car with thousands of MP3s is somewhat useless... I'd much rather get SAT radio if anything else (can't live without the damn thing now)...

i think you have 3 choices,as listed above, cinergy 600 RDS, Wintv Usb, or my tuner of choice, the D-Link DRU-R100 . Lets face it ,like Guino said its not likely to see much action anyway, bring on the MP3's.On the other hand, how good's a stereo replacement that can't do fm.The D-Link DRU-R100 usb tuner can be picked up for less than 20 in the uk and its small and external, can be placed anyware in the car unlike the rather bulky Cinergy 600.

I still love the FM morning shows, which I can't get on Sat... I WILL have XM in the car as well, but isn't it nice when all the buttons on RR actually do something

I'll look around, the WinTV USB is the easiest one to get on eBay from researching.

            Thanks for the help guys.

i got a couple of DRU-100's picked up off Ebay, paid about 5 each, for the money their well worth it, and give a good quality radio output.

i'm a little confused, i have the D-Link radio,i recently put a pc and RR into my brother inlaw's car.to save a little money i advised him to buy a WINTV Usb FM reciever(2 birds with 1 stone)but it turns out the FM reception is useless,or so i thought!! i installed my D-Link onto his system to show him how much better it is and instantly there was a huge improvement(more stations and more clarity).point proved i stuck his wintv back in and guess what, crystal clear reception just like my D-Link???????????????
i know its not an installation error,(i uninstalled the wintv loads of times trying to get a decent reception but no joy) which leaves me thinking....
Has the wintv app made use of the D-Link driver somehow? Its all i can think of.

The driver i installed for the D-Link is the Gemtec 21 driver here:

can some1 with the wintv fm card see if having this driver on the system helps
or tell me if i'm barking up the wrong tree on this 1

The drivers should not matter... My guess is the way you mounted the antenna, and knowing that the plugs are different, I assume something changed there.. even if just the plug.

Hi Guino, i intend to do a bit more testing to clear this up but as far as i can tell, nothing changed during the swap(using the standard car antenna).all that changed was the software. As for the plugs, yeah i had to use a bit of wire on an RCA jack for the D-Link,but no changes were made that could of affected the Wintv.
I'm hoping at the end of all this there might be a solution for those suffering the wintv's lousy reception (the difference was startling).
Thanks for the reply Guino, keep up the great work mate.

I don't think they make them anymore but there readily available on ebay for anything from £2 to £20,if your not bothered about RDS info its the 1 to go for.....Need RDS?....get a cinergy 600 mate.
If you go for the D-Link don't use the standard driver(its got issues),
use the 1 i posted above.

you were right mate,it turns out that if mic boost is enabled your radio will sound rubbish,i found this out after a reinstall, the radio was awful again so i tried everything i could think of,after all that a simple tick box resolved the issue.
