Ok dilema, I have a ac 97 audio card in a intel board. everytime I go to a voice program my mic gets the volume turned all the way down. I can not get voice control to work. Anyone have any solutions on this?

That's what SAPI does. It turns down the MIC volume. Try adjusting it in the speech control panel, maybe that will help.

Hmmm sapi you say? I did try it in the speech control panel. No dice. I tried the obvious things. I'm wondering if it's some sort of software glitch.

No. Its SAPI. It also unmutes the MIC. If the MIC is not mutted, then when you tap it you can hear that tap in the speakers.

yeah it doesnt mute, it just turns the mic all the way down. Everytime you try and use a voice option, such as the delorme 2006, the voice command option goes all the way down. I even tried your navivoice and it does the same thing. I have the MS speech reck, most recent version I think. Stumped. Can I configure sapi? Also what the hell does sapi stand for, speech something right? kind of new to the voice command scene

You mean the volume? Go into speech in the control panel and select configure microphone and follow the wizard. Then see if its any better.

Yeh. For some reason, SAPI does that.

yeah , I configured the mic. Each time I go to configure the mic, it turns the volume down on the mic. I turn the volume back up and it works. I close application. Try to open a app that has voice reck, then it turns the mic volume back down. WHY?
