  • Windows Media Player Classic - I don't like it!!!

For those of you who have never heard of VLC Media Player Check It Out!!
I believe this would be far better embedded into RR than WMPC. In the years I've been using it, I've only come across one codec it didn't handle correctly. Is there a way to integrate this in instead of WMPC? Read about VLC. This is a project that thousands of students are constantly working on. It's simply the best, although not the best looking.... It gets the job done and is fully customizable!!

I have no problems with classic and using the CCCP codec pack or any other codec pack out there. I have used VLC and it's good as well.....

VLC is a good player, but I prefer MPC (without W)... So we're 1:1.

Hmm... MPC isnt a microsoft product, its a GNU project by Gobest or sumthin like that....

What is it that you hate so much about it? it is surely also worked on by many ppl whch can probably fix any issues you have soon... go on the help menu, and into Home Page and maybe send them a note if you have issues?

My MPC has "jerky" playback and I have yet to resolve it. ANY other player has smooth playback but MPC. I prefer to use the MPC in RR because of the way it integrates with it, but I am at a total loss.

              CCCP vs. K-Lite codec packs

I've always used the K-Lite codec packs and been reasonably happy with them. Sure as heck beats the option of locating and installing everything manually, at least. Can anyone who has used both K-Lite and CCCP give a comparison of the two?

K-lite codec pack, the full version, is my favorite. The full version comes with extras like fixcodecs which works extremely well to help problems with broken codecs - happens somewhat frequently. ...

RoadRunner's built in player give me problems, like it freezes on AVI videos and MPEG2 stuff. MPC works... but I dont like the way it embeds.

Yeah I can, CCCP is better IMO. I took used to be a k-lite whore, but then I started getting .MKV files and K-lite can't play them so I went to CCCP and never looked back. Oh and it's a simple install as well, but just make sure you remove your old codec pack, K-lite comes with an uninstall and that will work well enough.

Were you using K-lite vers, 2.54 Full?? It supports Matroska. Also, MPC has Matroska native support...

At the time it wasn't at 2.54, but I have used the newest versions while trying help a friend with some codec problems a couple weeks ago. I still like CCCP, but if you like K-lite and have no issues then by all means keep using it. As far as Matroska support, I found that many players would get out of sync, i.e. VLC, media player, etc. Only after installing CCCP would they run perfectly. Again if you have no issues you don't need a new codec pack.

I do like the codec checker K-lite comes with.

WEll to be fair, I've never even used CCCP, so I can't speak which is better, I just thought you might wan't to know its been supported in newer version. It would crazy not to, Matroska will likely be the format of the future.
