  • speedo hangs when starting MM

I don't know if i put this in the right part of forum, but here it goes:

My system runs (almost) succesfully for several months now. Since i added GPS, little trouble came up. I use Xport to split my gps signal from COM3 to COM4, 5 and 6.

I use COM4 for Roadrunner, 5 for MapMonkey and 6 for Netstumbler. The speedo in RR works fine, but when i start MM, the speedo in RR hangs. Even when i close MM, it still won't work again, unless i reboot ofcourse.

Also since my use of Xport (that solved my 'COMM PORT IN USE' problem), Windows won't shut down automaticly anymore. RR exits perfectly, but MM says: "trying to shut down, click here to shut down the program", or something like that. If i don't select that option, it won't shutdown, so i drain my battery if i forget.

    Any suggestions?

there is a force kill option somewhere in windows that when shutting down it will force any hung apps to get killed, i think you set it in the registry somwhere, you'll have to google it.

i dont use MM or xport but have you tested each port for gps data at the same time. By say running 3 gps apps and see if they all navigate properly. It may be an issue with xport as far as teh speedo lablel failing

MapMonkey and Netstumbler works fine together, only RR speedo will hang as soon as i start MM.. Also, the speedo in RR is very slow, takes about 5sec before it gives the right speed, but i guess that's normal, RR isn't a navigation program, the speedo is just a nice extra.
