  • RR compatible hardware list ?

I'm sure this has already been done one way or another but I have to ask.

Is there somewhere or could we compile a list of all the different pieces of hardware (and software) 100% compatible wit RR: (bluetooth adapters, GPS antennas, satellite radio (especially sirius) adapters, TV/FM tuners, external soundcard etc,etc...and the software and drivers that come with them)

We can also make a list of the ones that don't work!!!

This way we could put together a list of the best hardware, software and drivers to build the best car pc known to geek!!!

    XM required the XMD1000
Radio requires the HQCT or the Radioshark using the Radiator driver/plugin
Not sure about Sirius, not sure it is supported, but it might be.

Otherwise, anything should work with RR. There is no special hardware needed for the other functions. Software would only depends on you, but RR has never had an issue embeding anything that I know of, though I am sure there are some issues with some programs.

Radio Shark Support in Road Runner

Actually I am using a RadioShark USB radio in my setup now. Radiator drivers are NOT needed.

EvolutionIII has created a plugin to work with Road Runner. His plugin patches the RadioShark.exe to allow communication with Radio Shark dirrectly. Supported are Push button or list presets, dirrect tuning (With the NumOsk num pad skin), scan, AM/FM, and recording / time shifting. Presets are stored/edited in it's own .ini file where you can place whatever name you like for each station (EA: 94.3 Real Radio)

I am mentioning everything here, as the plugin is fairly new, and not yet mentioned in the FAQ.

The plugin works VERY well, and when holding down the tune +/- it scans as fast as the head unit in my car. Controls are instaneous when pressed.

This is a simple and inexpensive (under $50 and Best Buy has them on sale now and then for $29) way to add AM/FM with time shifting capabilities to your car setup. I do suggest hooking up a dipole antennae to the Radio Shark though, as the built in antennae is not the greatest.

I think a DETAILED list of supported hardware would be a great idea! Currently the FAQ covers quite a bit, but just mentions a couple things, that could be expanded on with links to hardware ect.

XM: XMD1000 or XMPCR (No support for TimeTrax dongle as of yet)
SIRIUS: MitchJS interface board + Sirius Tuner
FM: As stated in the FAQs
TV: As stated in the FAQs
          GPS: Any NMEA compatible
Bluetooth: whatever you like (won't matter)
USB Sound Cards: Strongly adviced NOT to use them
