  • Auto switch to Guidance screen for iG?

Seem like many of you got confused as which one is the latest release.
Well, whatever the later date is the latest (10/30 is the later rather than 10/25). We are moving forward, not backward .

    Update as of 11/12
    - This add on feature is now part of RoadRunner official release. To download, update your version of RoadRunner to 11/12 and later release. For usage, read this whole thread or at least read the readme.txt and Skin commands.txt files included in the download.

Refer to Post 147 by me or Post #164 by LS for option to use pauseonvoice=true to lower Winamp volume when iG given Voice Direction.
    --------------------------------------------------------------
    Update as of 11/05
    - Guino, already merged this part of the code to whatever he has and make a beta. You can can download at RR's beta site. For the lazy folks, here it is
    http://www.rrdownloads.net/BETA/RoadRunner.exe
Test it out and let guino and me know if there is any bugs so we fix it before official release.

    ----------------------------------------------------------
    Update as of 11/03
    - Code has been wrap up and sent to guino for offical release.
    - This post summarizes what will be included in offical release.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Update as of 10/30
Change in this release. Read the included readme file for more info.
    - all ini setting for this mod can be change during run time by using SETVAR.
    - Add an indicator IGIND when iG is in Guidance mode (not voice).

Thanks SangreDeThor for hosting the file.
    Download RoadRunner_auto-iG-10-30B.zip

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Update as of 10/25
Read the latest update on post #108. If you new to this thread and lazy to read from this post and on, at least, start from post 108 and read on.

    - Basically, fix a bug and add custom commands along with master setting to enable/disable the feature. lastscreenswitch time is now [5-30]. Value of less than 5 mean NO auto switch back to Last screen or execute IGAUTOGPSEXIT command.
Latest file name as of 10/25 RoadRunner_auto-iG-10-24B.zip
    Download 1 Thanks 65coupei6
    Download 2 Thanks Chucks.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Update as of 10/24
This project so far taking progress. Try it out.
JohnWPB made some progress with autoIt script. Read post #35 for more info and download.

At last, I wrote something that works (well depend on how you define "work" ).
Read post #47 for more info for setting in RR.ini.
Download: RoadRunner_auto_iG-10-20B.zip is the latest beta release. Earlier release file name is RoadRunner_auto_iG-10-19B.zip. Thanks 65coupei6 for hosting the file.

If you run into problem or need help with configuration, keep read on from post #47.
Post all bugs and wishes so I can fix/implement if I have time

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This feature is now became a reality
    - Auto switch on detection of Guidance screen.
    - Auto switch on voice direction with an option to pause/resume music.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
How would you like that feature?
Anytime iG's Guidance screen pop for direction, do you like RR to auto switch to GPS screen (which have Guidance screen)?

Would you like the feature? If so, how long you want the screen stay in GPS mode before switch back to previous screen? Until Guidance screen disappear or 10 - 20 seconds which ever first?

    Let me know.

    AUto iGuidance screen

Yes, I would VERY much like to see this feature added! iGmon has this, but that was the only feature I used for iGmon, as it does not support much of anything else in iG3.0 unfortunately.

With iGmon, the screen would stay on iGuidance, until the turn was completed. I beleive ut used a pixel color comparison for the turn indicator in the top left to acheive this. I don't think this is possible in RR'd code, but I am not positive.

10 Seconds would seem to be a fair amount of time to display the screen, glance to see the turn ect. Could this not be easily made configurable with an INI setting?

One request is that you please make the skin that it will go to, configurable in the ini, & defaulting to the external_GPS screen if nothing else is defined. I request this, as when I was working with iGmon, I had a screen that was a FULL screen GPS skin, with a bar across the top that simply said "Approaching Turn" across the entire top of the screen. Pressing this bar would take me back to the previous screen if I NEEDED to get out of the screen for something at that very moment.

The reason for this is simple, when a turn is approaching, I don't need the standard GPS screen, with routing, zooming (Inactive anyway when approaching a turn) ect.

I know it seems like more and more stuff to put in the RR.ini, but thats the name of the game with CapRC's TOTAL customization. If the values are not in the ini, it can always just be set to use default values.

Basically, If I do it, I will looking for the Guidance window then switch to GPS mode.
I ask this because while I was messing around with the code, I was able to find Guidance screen while embedded natively.
I'll try to make congif thru ini as possible.
Anyway, don't put your hope too high, cuz I still don't know how I am going to do this yet.

Another vote for me. It was definitely something about IGMon that I really liked.

If you're gonna make this work Matrix, please be sure to put an X button somewhere in the corner so that the user could go back to the previous menu manually if he want to.

Djx, doing this will just bring the skin that you normally use for iGuidance. So you can just use your native close/exit button on that skin.

Thats why I suggested being able to define what skin you wnat it to load in. I simply want the iG screen to be full screen, with just a top border that say's something like "Upcomming turn", so it looks like it was "on purpose" that it switched, and not some sort of glitch I would then make that entire top button an "exit" button.

Also Matrix, just to complicate things more, before they even get off of the ground There would probably be a need to be able to turn this off with a button inside road runner. This would be handy if you were navigating sity streets, and wanted to change the radio station ect and not have the screen keep being taken over every few seconds when a turn is coming up.

This would be sweet. I was just thinking about this today when fooling with some other screens while trying to find some place via IG...

yeah this is sweet if you can make it work right. IGMON did do this for me but with the new RR it stop switching screen. I am trying to figure out how to get it back. I even added a clip region back into my personal skin with ignative=false and its still not working.

interesting, ignative=false should virtually be like running RR without any difference to previous versions.

iGmon already did it, but with iGnative set to true, it won't work.
If you set iGnative to false, iGMon is so process intensive. It tags my CPU with about 35-50% more CPU usage than without. That is on a Dual Core 3.4Ghz Pentium.

Well it still chops the top and when you have multiple GPS screens it does some weird stuff and slows it down for me

So the only way I figured out how to have it work like before is to change the window name to !Intellinav on loads.
