  • How do I get the Car2PC adapter to work in RR?

    Custommx3,

I just downloaded a version of car2pc from an earlier post on this thread, it seems to be more recent than the one included with RR. Specifically, the LCD flashing problem is fixed (at least for me) using it. The file is included in post #58

How do I get the Car2PC adapter to work in RR?

I tried searching for it and I found that Guino said:
"You should NOT install the HUMP3 plugin when using it with RR -- RR will handle the car2pc adapter by itself. I have improved this quite a bit for next release anyway."

I have not installed the HUMP3 plugin, but no buttons work, and I dont find anything in the rr.ini about the Car2PC.

The driver is installed and the Mediaplayer plugin works fine.

        - Install the driver (you already did).
        - Add usecar2pc=true to rr.ini if it isn't there.
        - Open RoadRunner's ExecTBL.in file and add the command in the list below if it isn't there. Also note that each skin may or may not has it own ExecTBL.ini file. The skin's ExecTBL.ini is NOT the file you want to look at.
        Code:
        /, Car2PC Interface Support
        "HUSTART","RESUME"
        "HUSTOP","PAUSE"
        "NT ","RRNEXT"
        "PT ","RRPREV"
        "PA ","PLAY"
        "FF 1","STARTFFWD"
        "FF 0","STOPFFWD"
        "FR 1","STARTFRWD"
        "FR 0","STOPFRWD"
        "DS 001","MENU"
        "DS 002","AUDIO"
        "DS 003","VIDEO"
        "DS 004","LOAD_PICVIEWER"
        "DS 005","PHONE"
        "DS 006","GPS"
        "MX 1","SHUFFLE"
        "MX 0","SHUFFLE"
        "RP 1","REPEAT"
        "RP 0","REPEAT"
Those are the commands I use, change it to suite your need.

          Emulator

I've been trying to get the Car2PC emulator to work. Here are my ExecTbl.ini entries.

          "HUSTART","SAY;HUSTART"
          "HUSTOP","SAY;HUSTOP"
          "NT ","SAY;NT"
          "PT ","SAY;PT"
          "PA ","SAY;PA"
          "FF 1","SAY;FF 1"
          "FF 0","SAY;FF 0"
          "FR 1","SAY;FR 1"
          "FR 0","SAY;FR 0"
          "DS 001","SAY;DS 001"
          "DS 002","SAY;DS 002"
          "DS 003","SAY;DS 003"
          "DS 004","SAY;DS 004"
          "DS 005","SAY;DS 005"
          "DS 006","SAY;DS 006"
          "MX 1","SAY;MX 1"
          "MX 0","SAY;MX 0"
          "RP 1","SAY;RP 1"
          "RP 0","SAY;RP 0"
          "PL ","SAY;PL"
          "PA ","SAY;PA"
          "TR ","SAY;TR"
          "TM ","SAY;TM"
          "SC ","SAY;SC"

The power, "<", ">", and Mix buttons work, but none of the DS buttons do anything. Is there something I'm missing?

It didn't work because you didn't associate any Car2PC commands to RR commands
In fact, it look like NONE of the buttons work for you. Try change it to the one I have and see what happen.
Also note, with latest release of RoadRunner, remove winamp car2PC plugin. Otherwise, it cause conflict and not working.

Hmmm. Well, "SAY" is definitely a RoadRunner command. Here's the Help file entry.
"SAY" - This dynamic command lets you tell RR to solely "speak" any text given as parameter. This command speaks the words EVEN when the music/video is playing -- in which case voice over volume applies.

              Examples:
              "SAY;Hello!", "SAY;Welcome to Road Runner!"
Or perhaps I misunderstood the help file or your reply.

What I was trying to do was find out which buttons work with my Audi, and using the emulator to verify that I had RR set up correctly. Some of the buttons do indeed work, but the DS buttons don't.

                Hi,
since 3 days my car2pc adapter is in the car but I canīt control rr with my (BMW E46) steering wheel.
                In rr.ini I put this in: usecar2pc=true

                my exectbl:

                /, Car2PC Interface Support
                "HUSTART","RESUME"
                "HUSTOP","PAUSE"
                "NT ","RRNEXT"
                "PT ","RRPREV"
                "PA ","PLAY"
                "FF 1","STARTFFWD"
                "FF 0","STOPFFWD"
                "FR 1","STARTFRWD"
                "FR 0","STOPFRWD"
                "DS 001","AUDIO"
                "DS 002","VIDEO"
                "DS 003","RADIO"
                "DS 004","XM"
                "DS 005","GPS"
                "DS 006","DVD"
                "MX 1","SHUFFLE"
                "MX 0","SHUFFLE"
                "RP 1","REPEAT"
                "RP 0","REPEAT"

Could someone help? For testing I use the BMV.skin with latest update of rr.

With latest version of RR, you don't need winamp plugin for the adapter. RR already take care that part. I had problem with the adapter/RR before. Uninstall winamp plugin, everything work, but you can't use winamp and the adapter.
To solve the problem I have 2 version of winamp (2.95 and 5.x). I have the plugin for winamp 5, but not 2.95 because I have RR use 2.95.

Thanks, but I have no plugin for winamp. I know you mean the HU-plugin for winamp, but I didnīt install it, because I read that rr is working without the plugin.

Try to install a different version of winamp than you already had in a different directory. Get a plugin and test it out. If it works, there is something wrong with RR. If it doesn't, well, either the adapter and/or driver or cables.

Do you mean a second installation of winamp with the HU-plugin? Or which plugin do you mean?

2nd installation of winamp and HU-plugin.
Or you can just install the HU-plugin with existing winamp to test if the 2 works with your HU and without RR. That way, you can narrow down that RR isn't the source of problem.
