    I am trying to change text color from keyboard commands to a flash.exe

    Control+y = Yellow
    Control+b = Blue
    Control+w = white

    So I can activate and sendkey from RR to change colors

    It would probably take me a week to figure this out but some of the people on here could probably do it in 5 minutes.

    I will post the .fla file I am working on if someone wants to give it a shot

    Thx chuck

    are you using this flash file as a SWF defined in the .skin file or as an EXE file embedded with the LOAD command ? I'm pretty sure SWF files will not receive keyboard input (so that would not work).

          I don't understand one thing though... I mean, you're MAKING this flash file, so why don't you just have the color in the flash file selected by a global variable you set in RR ? That's what "setflashvar" is for... "SETFLASHVAR;COLOR;2"

          then use:

          if (_root.COLOR == "2") {
          <COMMANDS TO CHANGE THE COLOR/FRAME etc>
          }

          That's coming from someone who knows nothing about flash.. and again that's only useful if there's no special reason why you're using keystrokes to get the job done.

            Here you go Chuck, hope this is what you were looking for.

            But if you test it within the flash ide, make sure you select "Disable Keyboard Shortcuts" from the "Control" menu in the swf preview, or else is won't work.

              Will this work with an flash.exe?

                Kembond thanks a bunch

                Works good but every time the time or date changes the color goes back to the startup color

                Almost there

                        No problem,
                        If anything check in the Flash help panel, they have code examples for almost every command.

                            Here you go.
                            I started from scratch, it was easier for me that way.

                            I Let it run for 13 minutes and it worked fine, but you might want to let it run for awhile, at least get an hour.... just to make sure.
