  • feature request: mix mode

    I think this would be a really cool add on.

    Mix mode basically is just a supped up scan mode. And shouldn't really require any effort to implement.

    1. increase the time limit on scan mode to be more than 10 sec.
    I don't know if this limit is a bug or by design but any values i put larger than 10sec automatically revert back to 10. I would like to put in any value i want.

    2. when this mode is turned on, automatically also turn on winamps crossfading between tracks with maybe an optional random length of the crossfade instead of a set number to fade. Something like min 3sec, max 6sec and RR randomly pick a number every few tracks.

    3. automatically turn on shuffle with the option to temporarily turn shuffle off for say the next 3 tracks for when an artist pops up that you may want to hear a few more songs from before going to the next random song.

    I think this can breath some more life into a lot of music you already have.

    Some additional features that could be added but i think would significantly reduce the chances of mix mode being implemented are, shuffling based on genre and song tempo. These two things i think would require some type of scanning of your entire music library and also having perfect tags for all your tracks etc. There are other apps that try to be smart about what song comes next based on the previous song, but ive never really seen any that do a halfway good job at it. Its one of those things thats really hard for software to do good, and really takes a human ear. Thats why DJ's run the party and not the shuffle button

    any ideas?

    well after writeing a script to do this, i find that the scanmode in RR isnt actually broken. RRConfig.exe has the issue. The scanmode setting in RRConfig.exe dosnt point to or change any setting inside rr.ini

    If you manually add this line to rr.ini, scan mode will be larger values than 10. RRConfig will still say it is 10 and will not update the real values.

    scansecs=60

        I would start looking at Winamp plugins.

          yeah, i would like a way to turn it on/off too. Im sure there has to be a way.
          searching for plugins on winamp.com sucks ***, there search dosen't work for ****. You can type in the exact name of a plugin that you know exists, and it will not return you any results. I can never find anything doing a search there.
          And even after you find a dsp plugin that has crossfade you have to hope you can control it from RR or a script some how.

          Right now i have my cross fades setup in the DirectSound output plugin cuz i want the fades to happen when i skip tracks too, not just at the end of tracks, so they are always set to ON. So its even harder to turn it off.
