  • Video and Hand Cursor

I've been searching all night and haven't found a fix yet, although I found some very old posts describing the problem...

Using the built-in player (mplayerc.exe right?), when using certain zoom modes, the cursor automatically jumps to the top left where it won't hide. Also, the cursor is a hand rather than an arrow.
I'm sorry if the problem has been fixed, but I searched and searched and didn't find a fix... Is there any way to move the cursor position so it doesn't automatically move to the top left?

    Thanks...

edit: specifically, when using Full, +4:3, +2.35:1, and Cut modes are causing the cursor to appear.

WRONG! The built-in player isn't MPC.

Maybe that's the problem? How do you have video setup? as buil-in or external?

Okay then. Video is set up as built-in. And it doesn't matter whether the built-in player is mplayerc or not, the cursor is there. Happens in both DVD and Video.
A separate question, then why is mplayerc included?

What skin is it? are you using Vista?

MPC is included 'cause it's intended to play DVD's responding to the "DVD" command. It can also be used as an external video player which in that case, will play ALL video files and also dvd's.

These are my video settings and everything work flawless - the cursor dissapears when the controls autohide.

If your setting are like this, then i don't know what the problem is - sorry.

OK, you are right, the built in player is different. I have been using MPlayerC for videos as well as DVD's. I am doing this because of the better Zoom support I find mpc to have.
I'm using a modified Simplistique skin, but I haven't touched the video player skin.
Are you sure that the cursor goes away using MPC when in all of your zoom modes?
There are some old threads where Guino also acknowledges this problem, but then the problems seems to disappear. I am using the 5-27-08 beta...

I don't play actual DVD's (i always rip them) but i just tried one and indeed, that cursor (hand) appears in the upper left corner.

I really don't know why that is; maybe it's there to call back the controls.

To be honest, that's not something that would bother me to much or i would see very often (if at all) since i don't play actual DVD's in the truck. Therefore, i won't spend much time trying to figure it out - Sorry.

Yeah, I understand. Well, I can just use the -4:3 and -2.35:1 zoom modes which don't seem to have this problem. If anybody else knows of this or if there is a simple fix, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
And, don't worry, I don't watch DVDs while driving, lol. I just got a slick slot loading DVD player that doubles as CD player and wanted to have full functionality. I'm sure you understand.

you could install a cursor that points to the right so when it is in the top left you don't see it. then just change the hand to the right pointing cursor.

Couldn't I just install a blank cursor over the hand? Like RR with the normal windows cursor? I've never done this before, but it looks like RR replaces the normal cursor, but the other still show up (busy and hand, really).
