  • PLFORMAT not working ?

    I can't change the playlist format on the fly with my autoit script. I guess the command is correct like this, isn't it ?
    Code:
    $rr=ObjCreate("RoadRunner.sdk")
    $rr.execute("PLFORMAT;%title%")

    I'd suggest you make a debug log file to check what RR is receiving -- chances are that % in autoit may have a meaning in a string, so you may have to use %% or something. Again, this is just what I suspect could be the problem, looking at the debug log should be more revealing.

      Actually, I just copied the code from the first post, and it is working perfectly for me. I copied the code from the poat, pased to a text file and saved as testpl.au3, double clicked it, and the list in RR changed instantly to show just the title of the song.

      Are you sure you are on a screen that is actually displaying a playlist, and not a Directory list or something else?

      PHP Code:
      $rr=ObjCreate("RoadRunner.sdk")

      $rr.execute("PLFORMAT;%title%"
      Front End of Choice: Ride Runner (Is there anything else??? ) & Powered by the DFX5.1 Skin Available in the Mobile App Mart

        Ok, I downloaded the newest RR-Version (12-01-08), but it still doesn't work.

        I changed the code a bit to make sure that the playlist is selected:
        Code:
        $rr=ObjCreate("RoadRunner.sdk")
        $rr.execute("PLSEL")
        $rr.execute("PLFORMAT;%title%")
        I started RoadRunner and clicked on the AUDIO button. After this I started the AutoIt script. Here's the resulting debug code:
        Code:
        ...
        07.12.2008 20:50:23: Executing: AUDIO
        07.12.2008 20:50:23: Leave Exec: Falsch, menu.skin, load;audio_player.skin;music, Falsch
        07.12.2008 20:50:26: Enter Exec: Falsch, audio_player.skin, , Falsch
        07.12.2008 20:50:26: Que Exec: Wahr, audio_player.skin, "SELPL", Falsch
        07.12.2008 20:50:26: Executing: SELPL
        07.12.2008 20:50:26: Que Exec: Wahr, audio_player.skin, "PLFORMAT;%title%", Falsch
        07.12.2008 20:50:26: Executing: PLFORMAT;%title%
        07.12.2008 20:50:26: Leave Exec: Falsch, audio_player.skin, PLFORMAT;%title%, Falsch
        ...
        As you can see I'm using a non-english windows version . falsch=false, wahr=true

        This is the code for the playlist in audio_player.skin. The playlist is shown, so I guess it's correct, but you never know:
        Code:
        S01,098,080,607,336,255,100,000,000,000,000,255,100,000,255,100,000,000,000,000,TRUE,24,"8Pin Matrix"

          Just curious about one thing.. what is your setting for ID3/Tag Reading ? If that's disabled or tags are unavailable, that won't work (meaning: won't have any effect).

            Tag setting is Mix V2 with V1
            Could be that some songs are missing an ID3 tag. But RoadRunner shows songs without tags in the playlist. It just leaves the missing field (f.ex. artist or title) empty. So I didn't expect PLSEL to not work when there are song with missing tags in the playlist. Is that the case ?

            My RoadRunner installation shows "Artist - Title" in the playlist. I thought that's because of my setting in the RR.ini:
            Code:
            useid3=3
            showid3playlist=true
            showid3browse=true
            id3listformat=%artist% - %title%
            id3browseformat=%artist% - %title%
            But changing those fields to just %title% doesn't make a difference.

            I hope I'm not wasting your time, just because I'm misunderstanding the settings .

              Try running RR directly with id3listformat=%title% and see if it shows any different than %artist% - %title% -- if it shows the same, it's probably just the tag information missing/invalid.

                Putting just %title% still shows "Artist - Title" in the playlist.

                In my car I have some files which display as " - Title" in the playlist, artist missing. I'll have to check (soonest tomorrow) if those files really have no artist tag, or if there's a space saved in the field (declaring the field as not empty, know what I mean ?)

                Will RoadRunner ignore id3listformat/id3browseformat completely when there's just one mp3 in the playlist which is not tagged ? If that's the case, can't the code be changed that it shows <No Tag> instead, f.ex. "<No Tag> - Title" ?

                  If titlesafter= (blank) and you try to set the file format of songs without any Tag info, then RR will still show the file name as read from disk... this is likely what's happening to you... before you do any more testing with tag/list format PLEASE do verify your files are properly tagged or you won't have a way to define where the problem is.

                  Also, if some tag fields are missing, RR will do its best to show the fields that do exist (it can't just "make up" data to fill empty fields).

                    Sooo, finally had the time to test.
                    Cleared the playlist and added a tagged album to it. The year and genre are missing in the tag, but artist, album and songtitle are in there.
                    mp3tag says "Version: ID3v2.3 (ID3v1 ID3v2.3)
                    Windows explorer also shows the tags.

                    I changed id3listformat and id3browseformat to just "%title%".
                    When I start RoadRunner it still shows "ARTIST - TITLE" in the playlist and browser.
                    No additional scripts or tools for RoadRunner are running.

                    (BTW: tried WinAMP 2.95 and 5.03a, Windows XP Pro SP2)

                        "Read titles on load" is selected.

                          When you select "read metadata" (tags) on load, RR will always show the information as provided from winamp -- regardless of what you set in RR. You should disable that and let RR read the tags in order for PLFORMAT to work.

                            You're right. Changing this option to "Read titles on DISPLAY" helped. Sorry for a false bug report . Although I didn't see this mentioned in the "Skin Commands.txt", which would be a good addition IMO. Anyway, thanks alot guino .

                              This was just a requested featured for those users who want to use solely winamp to read tags. This provides for reading tags of unusual extensions while also improves performance for those who like loading few songs at a time onto the playlist. This however makes winamp define the format of the playlist since RR does not do any tag reading with such option.
