  • Web Commands

    all web commands fail to execute when the browser is not launched with the "WEB" command.

    "WEBURL" command kills the current instance of iexplore.exe and starts a new instance with the specified url. It should just pass the url to the current open window/instance.

          sorry, the web command is very specific to start the browser, get it's window and place it on top for handling keyboard etc.. but if you tell me what exactly you're trying to do, I can try to add support for it.

            well, if you were to dig into the code related to web browser support, i would rather you just fix a few issues related to that and not add anything extra.
            The main feature or purpose for me launching my own instance of the browser is that i only want the IE window embeded and none of the file menus, address bar etc. and also slightly modify how some of the current commands work.

            like

            "WEBURL" shouldnt kill the current instance of IE and open a new window. The only way to navigate back and forward would have to be by clicking links or typeing directly into the addressbar (which i dont want to see unless its a RR label)

            "FAV" command should open a new .skin file, (fav.skin) that has a list of friendly urls that is either pulled from IE favorites or from a .ini file that would have the format for a url like this.
            Name=MSN
            URL=http://www.msn.com
            so for long urls you dont have to display a long string of text.

            and any issues with the keyboard support (seems to be better in the current release)

            and thats basicly it, but also for firefox too where all i would like to see embeded is the webpage window and tabs. There is a firefox extention that can be used to do this without and code modifications, but i havnt tested this in the car yet. But the extention has a few drawbacks like not being able to easily disable it or uninstall it from inside Firefox.

              Guino - bump on this one per my PM's.... I know the plugin supports this but if I go this route - would be nice. I am doing some research assuming I still need to use built-in mode vs plugin and this would be nice. I am also researching how your suggestion of presets would maybe work....

              Fact is - the plugin mode of this is PERFECT, its this zoom piece I am working around.

              Much thanks

                Where do we find the plugin for Firefox - this sounds to be just what I need for my 'always connected' mobile install.

                  The plugin is based upon IE, it's posted at http://www.rrdownloads.net/ under WebPlugin and a search from the September release will give u a little more detail.

                  There is not a plugin on Firefox, its used as built-in embedded.
