  • plugin confusions?

I started looking through some plugins to extend the functionality of the install of RR. I thought that it would be kind of self explanatory but figured out that it's not very well documented, or I can't find anything on it and tried searching forums/faqs to no avail? I figured I would try the Wifiman and bassrr plugins to see how they worked.

The documentation would appear to be non-existant, or it seems like it to me. I followed the readme, coping the folder to plugins and the skins to inside the default skins folder (carwings). I tried adding stuff to the exec.tbl and skins.tbl files and nothing made a difference.

Even registering the .dll's didn't help. Nothing besides the normal weather and skintool would show up in the plugin manager. Changing the RR.ini to use the new bass.dll audio library had no effect either.

I don't want to sound like a pain if there is a simple plugin explanation on installs somewhere, but suffice I couldn't find in in any of the plugin subforums or RR faq forums I searched through, but a little help would be greatly appreciated.

This illustrates how to add the button code to the carwings skin.

As far as installing a plugin goes, they should be stored in a subfolder of the RR\plugins folder

the folder name should be the same as the DLL name.

Bassrr comes with its own WORKING test skin ,
drop the bassrr plugin folder into Riderunner\plugins
run register.bat this will reg all the needed dll for you
then take the default skin and drop that into your skin folder
      open rr config
set bassrr as your player in Music section
set Carwings_bass as the skin in the skins section ,
      save & close rrconfig
      and run Ruderunner.exe
this should give you the Carwings_Bass skin loading and will do a few checks on 1st start......like build a database for you etc

i'm in the middle of doing some sort of help on my website forum , for Bassrr & the up comming Genesis skin ,, so i would pop over to the site forum and keep a eye on it ,,

Ok I understand how to add the plugin for example, rrvechiclemaintenance and see it listed in the pluggins manager in Carwings. I also understand, sort of, how to add or modify the button. What I don't understand is how to add the skin for rrvechiclemaintenance. The skin is in its own folder call "RRVM skin". Do I add this folder under C:\Program Files\RideRunner\Skins or do I add it to C:\Programs Files\RideRunner\Skins\Carwings_Dynamic_Lite? If the answer is to put it under C:\Programs Files\RideRunner\Skins\Carwings_Dynamic_Lite do I leave it in its own folder so that it would look like this, C:\Programs Files\RideRunner\Skins\Carwings_Dynamic_Lite\RRVM skin" or do I just copy the contents directly into the Carwings_Dynamic_Lite folder which then overwrites some of the files contained in their because they have the same names. This is where I am confused. To add to this confusion, if the answer is to keep it in its own folder how do I tell the button in ExecTBL.ini, "MyApp21","WIFIMAN" to point to a subfolder? Sorry for the long post, hopefully it makes some sense.

i think for RRvm thats a working test skin to , check the folder for exetbl.ini , skin.ini, general.ini if these are present in that folder then its a working test skin , you will only need to port over some of the skin files to your main skin , 9 times out of 10 , the skin files relevant to the plugin , are named , like rrvm_osk.skin etc , just move over those skin files.

if you have further issues , i can break the skin files down , to the 1's needed for your main skin , which ever that is...
