  • RRHQCT Radio Extension Plugin

    Ok guys, before flaming me. I know several people are developing software for the HQCT and the current implementation in RR is kinda working but:

    1. I'm missing traffic info functionality
    2. I'm missing news info functionality
    3. I'm getting a new car in januari and my HQCT module is going to be installed in that car. So I can't mess around with my HQCT module after that.

    That's why I started developing a RR extension plug in to replace the RRHQCT.exe I was currently using. Primairily for my own use.
    I really should have called it YAHI (Yet Another HQCT implementation).Just would like to know if there is interest in releasing the plugin until a better solution is available. I might even use the RadioHAL functions and switch to .NET

    Beta version 1.0.0.3 of the plugin: (updated 1-6-2007)

    http://gpsirda.dyndns.org/RRHQCTP_ver1.0.0.3.zip

    1. Place dll's and RRHQCRP.ini in roadrunner directory.
    2. register RRHQCTP.dll (regsvr32 RRHQCTP.DLL)
    3. Copy skin files to your skin directory (make backup of existing files)
    4. edit Exectbl.ini (Add "RRHQCT","LOAD;RADIO_PLAYER.skin||rrhqct_unmut e")
    5. Change your skin to call the Radio_player.skin using "RRHQCT"

    Currently the skin file is your documentation until I have found time for proper documentation.

    Not in this version:

    1. Traffic Annoucements from EON stations (not able to test, so disabled)
    2. TMC messages

    In this version:

    1. Basic tuning AM/FM
    2. Store function for 3x10 FM + 1x10 AM (with Station name if availble)
    3. Automatic switch to RADIO (sound) and pause of MP3, VIDEO, DVD in event of NEWS (switchable)
    4. Automatic switch to RADIO (sound) and pause of MP3, VIDEO, DVD in event of Traffic Announcement (switchable) when switched to station with TP flag
    5. PTY label
    6. RDS indicator
    7. EON indicator
    8. AF indicator
    9. AF (in version 1.0.0.3)

    Any other features you need just let me know.

    I really should have called it YAHI (Yet Another HQCT implementation). It has the following functionality.

    * FM tuning
    * AM tuning
    * Traffic Info (will interrupt MP3,VIDEO, DVD when a traffic message is being broadcast) switchable
    * News info (will interrupt MP3, VIDEO, DVD when PTY of current station switches to NEWS) switchable
    * 3 x 10 presets for FM (stored using RDS Station name if available)
    * 1 x 10 presets for AM

    Does not have (yet):

    * AF tuning (basic functionality is there but I was not able to test because the module is stationairy at the moment
    * TMC messages (hard to find the location databases)
    * Traffic Announcement for EON stations (did not receive 14B messages yet to test)

    Just would like to know if there is interest in releasing the plugin until a better solution is available. I might even use the RadioHAL functions and switch to .NET

    I will be very interested to try it in my car! Could you please release it?

              I never liked Elvis anyway so I don't mind

              But what I wanted to know is if there was interest enough in the extension plugin to release it. But releasing it would also mean I have to write some documentation. Haven't had the time to do this. So what I will do is release the plugin in a beta status. It's working for me but I really would appreciate if you all could give me some feedback. It's not finished yet but I'm getting there and it will need some miles on the road to get it tested.

              I will have time tomorrow to release it....

                  how does it aquire its traffic info? does this come via the HQCT itself? that was one of the reasons I wanted it. but now that I actually read the HQCT thread i cant find any info on traffic.

                  Maybe I missed it or something. It's the only reason I would want one of the modules. Radio doesnt interest me in the slightest

                    Are you talking of TMC messages. These come with some stations. You will need a location database to translate the codes to highway and local road names. I do not have access to such a database for the Netherlands so I'm currently not able to implement this.

                    Furthermore there are traffic and news announcements which causes headunits to switch to radio when your listening to a CD. The same functionality is in the plugin. It will temp. switch to the news transmission or when traffic announcements are transmitted.

                        really what i want is to have traffic information overlayed on my maps in whatever gps program i have. Newer gps units are starting to do this.

                          Have anyone tried it? Does the plugin work better than native HQCT support in RR?

                            Havn't got it to work. Anyone that managed to get it to start?
                            Dont get any text from the radiomodul (even after downloading the "LCD Display Grid" font that the skin is using) or any of the indicators.

                              Nothing showing up in the skins usually indicate a dll register problem. Could you move the rrhqctp.dll, mcHID.dll and the rrhqctp.ini to your road runner directory and register the dll using regsvr32 rrhqctp.dll.

                              I'm updating the plugin soon as I have implemented all the audio functionality of the HQCT. People will need this when the HQCTe is starting to ship and people use the build-in amplifier. Volume, Bass, Treble and Fader control and CD(probably the lineout of the CARPC), Tape and Phone controls are in the HQCT and can then be controlled from Road Runner.
