  • Help with the new Ovlov skin: volume indicator!

Hi all you skinning Guru's out there!

I was thinking of making my very first own skin while waiting for FU or Iphone to get updated and since I drive a Volvo I'm naming it Ovlov, yep it's Volvo backwards...

if u go here: http://www.volvocars.com/All-Cars/Vo...ult.htm?item=2 u can see how I was thinking of making it, the only thing that changes is the upper LCD display in every skin besides navi and video ofc. since they require a lot more room...

What do u guys think, should I make most of it in flash directly or just some parts of it, been reading up on some flash skinning and done some at webpages but I don't want the skin to be slow...

well, the question I had was actually about the volume indicator, at the link above u can click on "Turn Audio System On" and then increase or decrease volume, How can I make that effect in a skin...? I'm guessing I'll just make the volume buttons to both change the volume and then change to a volume skin that has a IDLE timer in it to change it back in 2 seconds or something... but how can I make the volume indicator?

Thanks for any help on this!

Thanks for the tip but I'm looking for something more skinlike... anyone wanna give me a hint about how the Slider command works!

Been reading the skincommands file, searching here and looking at other skins, most skins I looked at has a folder named slider_volume with the 20 different pics in it but how do I make the skin file now where to get the slider images...?

and how do I make a button send 2 different commands, I need the volume button to change the volume AND change to the colume skin?

This stuff you learn from the skinning tutorials.. you can issue multiple commands with || like: "PLAY||VOL+" (plays and increases volume on same button). The Slider backgrounds are defined by a STYLE -- the "Y" definition which simply tells the filenames for the backgrounds, then you use the number of the Y definition in the slider's STYLE parameter. You should download the LSVOID skin for reference on that as it uses it on most of its sliders. Unless you're controlling the volume from outside the skin, you'll have to click on the POPUP/MENU window in order to change the volume as RR disables any other window that is not on focus.

Thank Guino, just need to ask, is there any other tutorial then http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/rr-s...-download.html since that one only covers the tru basics in skineditor... I found nothing in it how sliders work or multiple commands in buttons...

but thanks to your reply I really think I get it now... the focus thing is a problem though, but since I'm making it switch to a volume skin it doesn't matter since it will be possible to change the volume on that one 2...

I want to try and stay away from flash as long as possible since it has a habit of slowing skins down, atleast on my comp...
