  • Here is the Flash Code Everyone has been searching for..

Well I did some decompiling and this is what I came up with for the GPS speedometer Action script that appears in several on the flash.swf files on the site.

What I don't understand is how it gets the information. Does it get a feed from the GPS software and converts it over?

I know the variables in RR are setup for
"GPSSPD"- GPS Speed (In whatever units specified in RRConfig --Mi/h or Km/h)
This is taking from the Skins Command.txt file.

What I need to know is how does things like the Fusion Brian input its variables so that they can be read...

I hope all those looking for this code enjoy it...

    Code:
    <Removed>
If someone might help out that knows I would be up for listen...

    Thanks

RR itself sets the variables at the root of the flash movie (i.e.) _root.GPSSPD, so you can read it and use it when you want, all it requires is that you define a label in the .skin file that defines the labels you want to receive in the flash movie, like:

    L00,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,"","GPSSPD",""

All the data can be blank, but you must define the label so RR prepares it and sets it in your flash movie.

PLEASE:Don't post someone else's material without obtaining prior consent from them (which you clearly didn't from your post) -- otherwise I'm forced to remove it.

      Other questions

So what about other gauges... will those inputs only work for speed.
If I have all those gauges on one page they all can't read from the same variable. can you give me some insight as to how this is done?

      Thanks for the input...
I will watch what I post as far as code goes.... At least now I know the reason no one would respond to my asking for help with coding in this area.

I am not sure by your first post what gauges you decompiled.... but it looks like the freely available ones HERE by looking at the code.

They are in both swishmax (The source code) and compiled into SWF. I see no issue with decompiling the gauges, as the creator did freely give the swishmax source code out. Further down the thread Chuck and a couple others posted their modifications to the code.

These are the gauges I used in my skin, and just completely re-did the backgrounds, fonts, and repositioned all the tick marks and such to the way I wanted.

As far as getting the variables into the gauges, as Guino mentioned, you need a label for each gauge type you are using in the skin. It can be hidden, but it has to be there. I set the labels to 1 pixel by 1 pixel and put it at 800 width, so it is just off the screen and not visible.

The code for the labels is GPSSPD, SPSHDG, and GPSALT. When those labels are defined in the skin that you have the gauges on, the flash gauges use them to display the information.

Here are the gauges I linked to above, just altered graphically.

          wow I like that setup...

Do the turn signals work too? If so can you fill me in on how your doing that. I'm purchasing a Fusion Brain. But if your using a different method I would like to know how your archiving it.

This is what I'm after for my EV (electric vehicle) can you help me? I'm very much a beginner in the car pc world that's for sure. But what you all are doing is very exciting. I just need some pointing or help. From someone that has done it..

As far as the other... Its not a big deal... Don't want to step on toes that's not my purpose. I just want to learn how to make the application function so that I can use it in my EV.

I have requested to have a Flash Tutorial made to help out others. I have even offered to put it together. This would do two things first teach me and then allow others to learn by the tutorial.

          Great gauges!....

I have the same speedo, but modified to my liking as well:

I took out the text "Speed" and altered the gauges to be closer to most car's top speed ( <140) and added a shadow behind so that it shows up better against most backgrounds. The source was posted and permission was given for us to alter if we wanted.

I do have a fusion brain, but have not hooked it to anything in the car as of yet. The turn signals are just really eye candy, and work, just for the hell of it

It is based off of GPS like the rest of the gauges. Its just a script I put together to watch your heading, and if it changes more than a given amount, will turn on the indicator in the skin. When you straighten back out, the indicator goes off.
