  • Feeler - Dual Monitor Skin

I've been running my own dual monitor setup in my truck for almost 2 years, and after playing around with it, I simplified it down to where I am finally fairly happy with it.

    Skin itself: http://rapidshare.com/files/14399120...on_Stacked.zip

Just wondering if there would be any interest in it from anyone else who might have the same setup? Here is the main menu for The Day and the Night versions. It's colour matched to my vehicle btw.

Looks good, nice and simple - post it up!

Is it hard to set-up dual monitors?

Here is a shot of how it is set up in my truck. The top screen in the console is a lilliput touchscreen that controls everything. The lower screen (and every other screen, 7 in total) shows track information, cover art, Speedometer, altitude, speed in kph, and satellites. For the video screen, the controls are up top and the video is on the bottom, as well as a fullscreen visualization screen. It's a show truck as well as my daily driver after all.

I'm working on a dual-screen skin as well. My top screen is stock with video input and the bottom one is a TS-VGA. The bottom will control everything and the top will toggle Vis, Album Art, GPS Map, Google Earth Map, etc. I would love to see a beta of this to help me out.

premise is the same, it doesn't matter how you physically have the monitors stacked, all you have to is windows that the primary (touch) monitor is on top. Once I have the kinks worked out, I'll post something up, including the psd (a single psd for the whole skin, just using layers for each screen).

Do you have a write-up or worklog on your system?

I have a couple small monitors collecting dust, i may just put them to good use.

Do you have 2 video cards? Do you use a video distibution box for the rest of the monitors?

Ah, I'm running a single video card with vga and tv outs (Connect3d ATI Radeon 9250SE, low profile). The tv-out runs to a simple y splitter with one end going directly to the head unit (for the cleanest signal possible) and the other end to a 7-out distribution amplifier to supply the rest of the monitors. I'll try to do up a system diagram for you later if you want. (used to have one, just can't find it)

I use on-board VGA and S-Vid set for extended desktop mode.

Same with me, just using the composite instead.

Wait, you actually you use a LP card rather than on-board. Lier!

total truth. it's a low profile AGP so it does everything I need it to.
