  • help: how do I cycle through a menu image with a mouse click? (flash?)

    I'm working on a skin to use in my Ford Focus. I would like it to look like above, but I would like the car picture in the middle to cycle through different images when I click on it (ie. I click on the picture, it changes to a different one).

    I have downloaded the trial copy of SwishMax Flash editor, so I could make a flash "video" with help if thats what I need to do.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is the last screen than I need to finish the skin (for now...) for what I use it for.

    create a new sprite and name it "container"

    then use this code to load the image into the sprite (it will load into the top-left corner of the sprite):

    container.loadMovie("FordFocus3.png");

    This is just a basic idea of how to get an image into Flash. CdR knows how to re-size the images dynamically and you can ask on some flash forum for help as well.

      woops! sorry i forgot the flash player can only load jpg's. the correct code would be:

      container.loadMovie("FordFocus3.jpg");

        good idea dinasty...alternatively a simpler solution would be to just create multiple menu skin jpg files and name each of them in acsending order like menu1.jpg, menu2.jpg etc.....then place a button object over the picture to call the next menu skin in line......you can also make it more interesting by adding small numbers to one of the corners that can call any perticular number without having to follow the sequence. But this is the easy way...

          There's also a command "LOADIMG" that lets you load images directly into the skin (on any layer: ON/OFF/DOWN/EMPTY/OUTPUT), and you could easily use switchbutton to swtich between the images -- as long as there's a limited/fixed number of them.. the advantage of flash is that your images can be placed under other objects (i.e buttons) without actually drawing those in the image itself.

            Hello,

            Adding to this; is there an option like switchbutton on the same menu to cycle through flash movies? What I want to do is in a single menu with say 4 buttons and in the middle have different flash played depending to the button pressed.

            I know about creating 4 menus but I'm looking something more "programatically" safe

            Thanks!
            George
