  • Black & White (ergonomic and fast)

    Hi!
Here is my first attempt to make a fast and easy usable skin for touchscreen. Its flash based. The .fla files will also be released.
Any help will be appreciated...especially for making a rating screen and a bookmark browser.
    c ya

    Edit:
I added a preview of the audio screen - the button panel can be switched with the arrow to album view. Progress bar is on the top.

    Edit2:
This is the next iteration of my skin - still beta, but its usable i think.
Now mp3 handling is implemented and gps. No video, web, games, coffeemachines, airplanes, etc

    4 full functionality you need:
    -AutoIt Activex Control
    -my Plugin (see rr plugins)
    -Destinator as gps application

I am using the windows osk (osk.exe) - it works excellent. To change the initial size, you must run setuposk.vbs one time. The keyboard will then be 800 x 250 in size. It appears when a input box gets the focus and disappears, when you leave it. For entering in the gps app its also used.

The most important point: you can use it even with sunglasses and it runs fast on a celeron 500.

    Edit3:
    New version available.
    Whats new:

    - faster
    - better style
    - acoustic alarm for poi's
    - rss feeds (with graphic and html capablities)
    - lyric support (automatic scrolling)
    - albumart slideshow (shows all jpg's and gifs in folder and in id3v2 tag)
    - video player and browser (one problem open with customdl - see rr bug subforum)

    Installation:

    - install autoit (at least autoitx)
    - get files from my last post
    - unpack
    - register reflexplugin.dll, audiogenie2.ocx
    - change reflexplugin.ini for your needs

    Good luck!

Which flash program are you using? You should be able to import any type of img file and use that as button (unless you prefer to use the vector art).

Also, let me know if you could use a hand with the rating stuff... I'd be interested to know what you have planned.

      @DiNASTY:

i like the "vector art". Main purpose is a good viewable (day and night) and usable skin, no eyecandy (many, very good skins have been made for that already). But the source will be released, so you can change it as you like...
      Currently i use Flash 8.

      About the rating:
It should be like what you 've planned - a button opens a screen with 5 buttons and you can rate the song or the whole directory (playlist) - this is for audiobooks or albums...
The rating should then be stored in the file and in a logfile. The logfile should also be used for the playcount. It should be possible to transfer the file to your main computer and update the ratings there.

      About the bookmarks:
One button for setting a bookmark (storing current playing position and complete playlist) and a 2nd one which opens a browser for the bookmark files to restore. Maybe a plugin for device change (automatic bookmark on cd, dvd change).

I like your ideas If you go all vector art, you might even be able to get the final skin size under 200k and post it as an attachment haha...

you could also do color changing without compromising any resources.

About your rating idea, I think you have a good idea with the pop-up window that prompts for the rating, however, I'm a little confused how you plan on linking that to a specific song. For example, if you wanted to rate song 5 on the play-list with "5 starts" or whatever, how would song 5 be selected? Would song 5 have to be playing in order to rate it?

Also, I'm not aware of any way to write ratings to the file itself? do you know of some way to do this? For the other information (CURRENTTRACKTIME, TRACKPATH, and the rating), you should be able to read/write that info to a txt file using only flash and RR labels.

you are right about the size, the current menu screen is only 4k "big".

at the moment, i use movieclips for the state change, but it should be possible to do it with script commands - i have just started to learn flash, any help is welcome. I've included the source, maybe you have some advise for me...

I think the rating should affect the current playing song or playlist. But you could also take the selected song in the playlist.

To write the id3 v2 tag, there are many free solutions around (ocx, source codes, etc). One (unverified) idea is, to do the functionality whats not build in in RR, with visual basic scripts. It seems that RR, handles sendmessage events, but there is no definition about reading some variables (labels, etc). With that feature, RR only starts the scripts without parameters and all required information will be taken by the script over sendmessage...

Agree, nice skin, I like to have it simple an useable...

I once did a full skin (not flash) that was less than 100k, was completely useable too...

              I made some progress...
the white arrows switch to different views. In the main screen for example, the buttons can be hidden and different overviews (mp3 tags, playlist, gps info) are shown.

I would like to see a skin that is plain and simple like this but really has that "bang Olufsen" or "bmw" style. I mean not that bling bling with neon colours. But not the most basic basic either. functional and still classy look. Plain flat buttons with black and white. I would also like to see more sharper lines instead of rounded button borders

go on, nobody will stop you! If such a skin would exist, maybe i dont had to make my own...

But if you expect from my skin to be like "B&O", "BMW" etc...no, sorry. There are already enough "be like that" skins. This skin has no logos and is like no other (as far as i know) Although i am open to good ideas and concepts, but it should be more concrete then: i want a b&o skin...

Oh, no sorry I didnt mean it should be a brand like skin, just that I like the type of interface that beo and bmw makes. I think they make their layouts of their products quite neutral and solid. If transfered to car-pc concept - -> Few colours, simple to use, and the screens in different views, fm-radio, gps for example is, if they are the same layout, more beautifull and makes the whole skin concept more solid. I know that takes a lot of work to do every skin screen look like each other but with simple skins like this it doesnt take a picasso skill to make them and still it will look NICe
Nice skin by the way if I did not mention it!

                      Just my humble opinion

and i am with you concerning the consistent layout and good usability.
