  • Another Skin Utility

This utility allows you to change multiple lines in skin file(s) of the same skin object type with the newly entered property at the same time.

    Example:
You want to change a group of button, label, ect... Properties to all the same values.

    1. Open one or more of the screens that you what to change.
    2. Select an object to edit.
    3. Enter the new values.
    4. Select line(s) from the top list.
    5. Select preview to see selected line(s) after change in bottom list.
    6. Click Commit to save changes & move on to the next screen if needed.

    Skin Converter <-- Updated 9/4

Instructions (also included in the help):

Update--> Will now install to the default RR skin folder if it's in the default location or it will ask were to put the utility then it will run the util and delete the install program.

    Preview Changes:
select the lines that you want to change with the changed object properties.

    Color Pallet:
brings up a color pallet window, just click on the color wanted.
window will disappear & Red text labels will turn red to let you know that a color is stored.
then click on the word text "Red" and it will fill in the selected color.
Picked Color will not change until you choose another color.

Clicking on Object property text words will bring up different things depending on word clicked:
    File
    - open a file dialog
    - stars in C:\
    Font
    - open a font dialog
    - fills in name, size, style, & color if other than black is selected <--Updated w/ style & color now
    Command
    - opens a larger input window to enter longer command lines
    - if command selected first then it will start with that command

Must preview changes at least once in order to be able to commit changes to file. Just a double check to make sure that is what you want, and no glitches in programming (shouldn't be any).

Also upon committing changes makes a backup of the original in the same dir with "_original" on the end of the file.

Clean exit of program, deletes all files used when running.

The only thing that you might have to keep an eye out for is the usage of the quotes on properties like commands and such but then that’s what the preview is there for...

    Hope you enjoy!

List any changes that you think that would make it better (I think that I have done a fairly good job already, but...I'm only one)

I'm surprised with many DL's that not one single person has made a comment on this.

How do you keep track of the number of times the file has been downloaded via FTP?

          Comments...

OK - I actually have a need for it and decided to give it a go today ... One thing I wanted to do was change the font of a bunch of similar lines. I noticed the font pulldown does not exist - and need to check on color...

I can see some good use for this but figured I would let you know I am out there trying to use it and thanks.

So for fonts I will have to find then plugin the actual name vs being able to pull it from the font list...

There is no font pulldown/combobox. All you need to do is simply click on the word "Font" and the font dialog window will come up, its in the help. Maybe I need to reword that part. Same goes for a few other object properies.

More details, not quite sure what part your talking about.

Edit: I think that I fixed this too, fills in selected font color if not black is choosen, you can also use the color pallet too.

Thats is why I said to just put the utility in the RR base skin folder(C:\program files\road runner\skins), but if you think that it should remember the last skin folder I can add that?

Edit: Fixed, installs itself to correct directory now.
