We have an audi a4 b8 and the good idea would be rhe possibility to change the a8 picture by another audi picture

What interface in intput do you use.
Do you have pictures of your installation ?
At the moment im experimenting, testing is easy thanks to the A8's aux inputs, so at the moment its on a laptop. I plan on using either a UHid device or a bluetooth mouse mounted in a box, which will mimic the MMI controls and be located in the cup holder tray (rotary encoder and button, but im open to idea's). im not familiar with the layout of the A4 so dont know where or what you use for controls.
My main aim originally was to produce a system that will give speed camera alerts,(which i now have working thanks to the fantastic GPSExec) but i want it to interupt the MMI and switch over to the computer (again GPSExec will help me do that but i will also have to fit another unit to the MMI which is £250 (Last thing on my list at the moment)
Working so far are
mappoint (Even thiugh i dont need it)
Ndrive (basically its a screen that has forward cam (Infrared hopefully) plus KPH and indicators etc for wwhen im in france) all works except the camera is work in progress,
Still to do
Would love to get Blackberry Mail synched up but havent given it too much thought at the moment
Would add phone skins if people like the skin, i already have audi BT (i also have TV and video, but this will be better and play MKVs)
Second output with different video to the main for the rear headrest monitors
I was building this for myself, so have left out features such as changing the menu pictures, and having configuration of menu buttons at the moment, though if people like the skin i could build these features in.
When will it be released ? well so far its moving fast, ive got to a stage where i now need to make the big decision on controls before i do too much more. as it will effect how and where i place butons on the skin. plus to release with configurable buttons i guess a lot of time will be spent (never done it so dont know)
anyone got suggestions for controls (absolutely no touchscreen available to me)?
PC will eventually be mounted in the boot or under dash if I get the £250 unit
if in the boot controls will have to be remote (bluetooth or wireless, if in the front i can use anything
I will take a look at the input thread before i disasemble this bluetooth mouse
been thinking about it this morning
as it seems a PITA to make this version configurable (The menu Items text must fit in the boxes, which means changing the size of the boxes dependant on text lenght) No idea how that will work in RR as it is.
so my thoughts are
Make a menu template skin in flash, Button names, Icon etc which will be configured in an INI
same template can be used for all additional menus and sub menus by simply copying and renaming, then adding additional info to INI. including defining the logo's etc (and of course adding a new .skin to RR and loading the flash app)
in this way i need make only 1 menu, and updating versions and bug fixing is easy.
Control for each screen configurable ie Rotary encoder for menu items - buttons for the items in each corner (same as MMI), On "Menu load" the buttons for that menu are loaded
On load of each Menu - first item will be ON instead of all OFF
plus no loop in controls so for a 6 item menu it will flow 1 - 6 and stop (As per MMI)
Screens for devices etc will remain as normal riderunner skins unless there is a reason and posibility to use flash to enhance it
or as its flash i could make the menu move to always have the selected item central rather than static circle and move around it, that way could have more than 6 in a menu (it would be cool but might not be good for touchscreen users though)
Ok, I have remade it in a flash version. as a trial to see if its controllable without touchscreen. seems ok so far
made a few changes as i now have more piccys on how the original MMI works,
All buttons, Icons, Car Image, menu item text etc are now configurable via a text file
when selected (As 1st menu is in pic) the item is illuminated, the box size automatically changes dependant on text lenght
Added bar at the bottom for indicators etc
Added Icons to menu items.
still work to do before im happy, i havent coded every menu item yet, and also have to add touchscreen support for those not using controls.
ie: in the config file Touchscreen=1 will change the way the menu works, the buttons will not glow until pressed, and an option of more buttons on a bar just above the indicator bar.
it will take a bit of time to get it right but once it is all other menus can be done by adding a copy of the swf and new config file
The Audio player will be normal RR until i make the flash version which will replace it in a few weeks or so after the release. It will be a full flash version. but will work Ipod style rather than the traditional file tree type
ie: ARTIST, ALBUM, GENRE type menu, then as it plays a song a box will appear over the track name with full track info as per AMI interface. file list will come from pre executed XML. also need to make an exe run from the settings menu to build the xml.
Yes done quite a bit, taking longer than i expected due to work commitments - The Menu system is all but finsihed (apart from the fact i need to add more touchscreen support) now just working on the plugin skins etc.
did a quick test in the car yesterday, looks really nice, but i can see a few changes that need to be made visually for the audi screen, text needs to be made slightly bigger on the corner buttons to make them clearer and fit in more
also i need a better bluetooth mouse with more range, the entire skin works from a 3 or 4 button mouse which i will convert to an mmi control set, just ordered some parts for this
soon as i get in to a good position and do a clean up i need someone to have a quick test
Pierrot , did you find a source for camera information for gpsexec1 that gives you heading information?
also, theres a lot of extra screens like settings and OSK to do that i hadnt thought of, heres my version of the OSK in flash - this or a version similar will be used for all data entry nav, weather etc. its not quite completed yet but getting there
