If you have your speed limits set properly, it works great.
It found me a way back home from Chicago using the back roads... shaved 2 hours off of my trip.
      Build Two:
      Planning: [==========]100%
Purchasing: [=====---------]50% (Car just got broken into)
Design: [=======-----]70% (Building a false panel to cover up my goodies)
Install: [======--------]600% (Need to replace screen and beisel)

...except that it doesn't take the direction one is traveling on a road into consideration when routing, and so often improperly reverses the direction one should be turning.

I love the integration of SD, but that's a major, er, "limitation" of Mappoint.

well put..... I agree the SD staff should consider putting some upgrades from msft to fix these critical issues....

I think this poll needs a few more options as anything but the first option implies that the system is hopelessly broken. It works pretty good for me. It would be nice if it was arranged easier for exploring new places.

You really need to do some reading. The navigation issues w/ StreetDeck have been discusserd at great length.
The routing engine is licensed from Micro$oft. If you take issue with the routing (as many do, rightfully so), then the issue is with Micro$oft, not StreetDeck.

Yes, the routes are wonky at times. I've had to deal with it, too.
However, the routing is accurate and can be tweaked (within reason) using the road speeds tip mentioned above.

Frankly, I think this poll is pointless. Someone mentioned there aren't enough options in the poll. I think there are too many.

Whether or not it works for you is really immaterial. It is what it is. If it doesn't work for you, then find another solution or wait and see if the SD team adopts a new navigation engine for the next version (which wouldn't be available for six months to a year at the vbery least).
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

it works.. it gets you from point A to point B ... granted there might be quicker and shorter ways to do that.. BUT.. if you dont know where point B is.. well then this works...

Thanks for your opinion... but the roadspeeds is one issue. the fact that it tells u to turn left instead of right.... thats a big problem. you might have figured out a way to use it... but if u took the time to read one of the posts..... msft has updates, but you cannot apply it to mappoint in SD. So im just trying to figure out how to make this work for me.

And yes this has topic has been beaten to death, but ever since those ridiculously long threads Ive been trying to get msft to give me a solution, but infact they told me that SD has the license and only will they be able to provide support. apparently its like when you buy a garmin system, they use navteq maps... but support is provided by garmin and not the software company.

Microsoft has "Construction" updates.. which tells mappoint which roads are under construction... it doesnt affect the routing in mappoint, nor in streetdeck

Wait...but you seem to be implying that the way the questions are asked can influence the results of the poll...

I assume that since it's a known issue, if it could be fixed, then by the 1.0.8.1 release it probably would have been fixed by the SD development team. It's not like the development team has neglected the software, given the recent major update, and the impending release of the BT hardware/software. So, I think the only reasonable thing to assume is that the routing issue in Mappoint is beyond their control, and probably will remain so.

Adjusting the road speeds helps TREMENDOUSLY with routing...so much so that I think SD should preconfigure/have a wizard to set up more reasonable roadspeeds at install...such a simple step would probably avoid quite a bit of dissatisfaction with the routing.

                          Yeah...
Never mind that those very words have been said multiple times before regarding the navigational routing of StreetDeck.
It's not like the navigational issues of StreetDeck aren't anything that's a surprise. I'm certain that if those that are having routing issues would attempt the same route with MapPoint or Streets&Trips, they would have the same issues...

I 100% agree. I had to jack up my desire to use tollroads for StreetDeck to even route me onto Dallas North Tollway... Never mind that I can throw a rock and almost hit the damn thing!

Yeah, but not HERE...and I didn't want to read another six pages of this. :-)

Had the same problem first time I used it. Of course, I ignored the directions and got on the DNT anyway, and was rewarded by listening to it try to reroute me onto Preston EVERY exit for the entire length of the tollway. That was fun.
