  • .vob files?

Is it possible to open .vob files or even .ts in SD? What should i do to make it possible? For now they dont even show up as being there. And is it also possible to open .3gp or mp4 files? Are these files going to be supported in near future?

I don't think there is support or probably ever will be support for .vob or .ts. These are not very widespread formats.

.3gp on the other hand is a widespread format, but more for mobile phones....not carpcs! This is due to the resolution and besides, DIVX is a better codec than 3gp ever was or will become!

MP4 on the other hand, should be supported by nature! To get suppose for that, I believe you have to install a .mp4 codec

.vob and .ts are not yet widespread, but i think they will be more often used (dvd and hdtv). I certanly like them.
.3gp is not the best format, but as a carpc it should be able to connect to mobile phone (trough USB/bluetooth/internet), backup its contents, and also play it.
the .mp4 should be supported aswell, but it doesn't show up on the list of videos.
IMO it would be best to include an application like the one where you set the paths to media, but you would choose what extensions would be displayed in SD.

Is there any registry key we can alter to achieve this?

I'm not sure if this will work, but have you tried registering the MIME type?

ok tnx for that.. they now show up in SD, but i still cant play them.
I can play DVD video (from DVD) with no problem, but can not play .vob . It might be a codec problem. Windows media player alone can not play .vob either, but if i rename it to .avi or any supproted extension it works fine.
I also cant get .ts to work in any way.
Why doesnt SD use another media player like mplayer for playing? It would be much easier.

Offtopic: i noticed that i cannot upgrade SD if it is set as system shell. IMO the files are in use, because system restarts SD when it closes for update.
