  • Afew issues i would like to get people opinions on

Well, I finally got my car PC in my car. Im running the most recent release of SD and running a Itel core 2 duo CPU, 1 GB of DDR2 memory, 120GB HD and a X-Fi sound card. I did do alot of searching, found alot of good information, but nothing that was helping me solve these issues, thus the reason i am posting.

I don't know what is going on but for one thing, SD did something very odd yesterday. It froze up for 5 mins, then closed randomly, then when i opened it back up, everything was reset, unchecked, FPS was set to 1fps the entire thing went nuts.

Also my screen (700TSV) does not save its contrast and brightness settings when i turn the car off and turn it back on. Its connected to the ignition wire, i don't know if thats why.

Also, the navigation, its very choppy when it updates even with the smoothing on. It just doesn't update consistently. when it does update though, the icon will zig zag down the road. Whats up with that?

another thing, sometimes when i start SD right away SD will start counting down to go into Hibernation. I don't even have it set to hibernate. I also checked the IGN wire to see maybe it cam loose but all is fine. so im kind of confused as to why its doing this.

Oh, and before i forget, when i click on visualization the screen turn black and nothing shows up, but when i tap the screen and go back in, i just get a thin black bar that goes across the top of the screen. anyone ever see this?

I think thats all for now. If anyone has the CONSTRUCTIVE information regarding any of these issue, i thank you in advance for your time.

    cheers

I have this issue too. I think it is just an issue with the Xenarc. Please see here for more info: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/lcd-...-shut-dow.html

I noticed this too. Basically it pauses for a second, then quickly tries to catch up, zig-zagging down the road as you stated. Basically, it's not very smooth. Don't know what's up with this, but it's kind of annoying.

I can't really comment on the other issues. Hopefully somebody else may be able to chime in.

I believe that's just how SD works...mine does the same thing, even with 7 to 8 satellites locked. Annoying, I agree.

There's a thread in here somewhere that explains the hanging, rebooting, and resetting everything.

ya i figured there was, but i havent been able to find it yet. still getting used to the search engine on this forum

Well that sux about the screen, maybe ill call them and ask if there is a fix for it.....hhmmmm maybe its just where i have it connected. Ill try tapping into the Cig lighter wires to see if that gives me any changes.

Ya i hope that Navi issue gets fixed in the near future. Would setting the Baud rate higher help that at all?

That's been mentioned before. Consensus is no, it wouldn't help, because a low baud rate is sufficient for GPS. Most GPS receivers only update with a frequency of one time per second, so the data stream actually isn't that big anyway.
