  • Streetdeck Visualizations

Just put together about 20 or so modified .milk files that will run in Streetdeck (they were tested on 1.1.1.0). A few really nice ones! Most are "Geiss".

To use them, go to c:\program files\streetdeck and rename your streetdeck.milk file (I think you have to be running at least 1.1.1.0 to have this file). Select one of these and rename them streetdeck.milk and enjoy!

Definitely found my new one in there.

If you don't know how to set up streetdeck to have visualization background, open streetdeck, go to settings, adjust application colors and background, then uncheck "use static wallpaper".

On a similar note, download TwistedPixel here....

    http://www.visolu.com/TwistedPixel/

And it will allow for "winamp" milkdrop visuals to show up in Streetdeck when playing tunes. After loading it, go into settings/music, and under visualization, you now have the choice of twistedpixel. It also displays the song inside the visualization like winamp does. Kinda neat. You can also convert your favorite visual to .vbs.
    My opinion is my own.

This is a very nice collection!
I organized the files, so you can copy-paste all of them without renaming, and I also gave them names, so when we discuss any of them, we know witch one we are talking about.

I noticed some of them didn't work in Dev environment. They appear as if the background was solid color. I named those Just_Blue, or Just_Yellow. And the one i named sun glare was very laggy. I don't think they are all as they should be. I haven't tested in my car yet.

Just to make it clear: These are the same visualizations as in danielhks post, but with better file structure. Visualizations.rar also has screenshots attached, Visualizations_Only.rar are without screenshots for those with slower internet connection.

What I did was downloaded and installed that twistedpixel program. In the folder, there was a large group of .milk files. I just started at the top, deleted the stuff GOC suggested in the other thread, and then tried it. If it worked, I just added whatever to the end of streetdeck in the streetdeck.milk file. A lot would not run, but I found that if 1 of a group (geiss for example), most in a group would work. Some of those, if you watch them in WMP, are fantastic! But I'm not sure what you would have to do to get them to work with SD.

Hey, it's a start! And if more people start looking and playing, we could get one heck of a collection here!
        My opinion is my own.

Something to keep in mind. When I put that file together, there were no blue only or yellow only. My screensize for the computer I am working on (laptop) is 1440x900, so there may be something in the file that makes it scalable. That would make A LOT more work right. I would say half of the files I worked with (and didn't include) were all blue or all some other color.

Edit: Your first "just blue.....you have to get the apps color right in between 2 colors and you will see it. Pretty good one actually. (I'll add here what I find)

Same with the second blue. They are both like a wormhole effect.

The wierd snowstorm is my new one. If you go into the file and at the bottom, there is a stereoredblue something or other. Change that to 0 and you can make it any color you want!

i really appreciate the fact that someone is still making stuff for SD.... but for those of us who aren't really computer savvy, can you explain what this is? screenshot maybe? I'm interested but don't know what we're talking about here.

            thanks!

It's a visualization for the background of StreetDeck.
It is visible behind the menus if you aren't using a static image as part of your skin.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
              How about the Wiki?

in the .rar you will find streetdeck.milk files. You just copy this to your streetdeck folder (C:\Program Files\Streetdeck\) and thats it. In my rar i included screenshots, so you can see how it looks.
If you want to enable background visualizations you have to uncheck "Use static wallpaper" under "Adjust Application Colors and Background" in Settings.

If you don't have decent video capabilities on your motherboard or video card, you won't see them. I had terrible onboard video originally, then saw the backgrounds on my laptop.......I went and BOUGHT a PCI video card just so I could have them in the car.

Artificial....I took that snowstorm one, turned off the redbluestereo whatever, moved the color to the deep blue, then turned my framerate down to 30-45. Looks like a wicked lava lamp!

What do you think? Looks like small changes in the files can make HUGE changes in the pattern. Darque.....why aren't you getting into this? You were one of the first to ask about changing them when they came out, weren't you?

                        This all looks really cooool!
Haven't thought it's possible to change this :-)

I haven't tried it yet, but is it also possible to let it react to music??

Not that I have found, and I doubt it since streetdeck itself would have to be tied into the music player AND use a converter for using .milk with WMP. Think we will have to wait till "the boys" get through messing around on the back 9 and ask them. That twisted pixel program should make it possible.

Edit: Ah, but with that said, you CAN go into streetdeck settings and under music select "twisted pixel" as your visualization. Then when you play your tunes and select visualize, you will get .milk files that have been converted. What I have seen so far is just their "demo" and I haven't played with it enough to make it use custom made ones (twisted pixel converts .milk to .vbs). Now THAT you can do.

Edit 2: If we can get enough people designing, modifying, and posting these .milk files, I would hope we could make this thread a sticky (hint hint).

--This is NOT a working visualization--

It seems that any .milk file that uses "shapes" in the file won't work, but this is an example of what I want to see for Streetdeck. So some of you top notch winamp editors, figure this out please! Some are a lot more detailed than this.

Some more non-working visuals. Just want to show where we COULD take this if we get enough people involved. Some of these really are remarkable! Then when the guys get back from partying and whoring, we can not only tell them what we want, but how to get there.

(Keep in mind these DO work with twisted pixel and music visualization and can be used now. They will not work for background)
