  • How to Use Streetdeck?

A yes im interested in building a carpc, well I want to go with streetdeck 2, well i see they have there own music and video sources how would I transfer all my music to the streedeck, I have Itunes with 5000 songs, would I need to transfer all that, i dont want to lose my itunes, also how does the interface work, does it just control all your sources, can you still go back to windows and get on the net, also i would be intrested in getting a navigation software, how would i be able to use streetdeck to control it thanks

maybe you should goto streetdeck.com and download the demo and read more about it there too. basically you add the directory of your music too street deck thats all. far as nav goes either you buy the one with the nav or you run navigation separate.

I'd also be advised that there doesn't seem to be much life over at streetdeck LLC. I know I wouldn't be too comfortable spending the money on the product at this point, even though I do still use it everyday.

Streetdeck works best when its not being used. By that I mean... you are better off looking at other front ends to spend your money on. Also, anyone could have drawn this conclusion if they had taken the time to read through the old posts and visit the streetdeck website forums.

Well, streetdeck2, even in it's current state, is still a perfectly usable carpc system. Nav works quite well, music works well. It is just missing some key features (traffic, bluetooth, etc) that were slated to be included, and when the community tried to fill in the gaps, they got zero support from the developer. Its a shame, really, because it wouldn't have taken much to open up a LOT of really good possibilities. The underlying framework of SD is actually very robust.

Does anybody have any idea how to make new apps and give it new functionality. I just found it last night and I think it has lots of potential. If somebody can give me some tips on making new apps for then I would consider it for a car pc. My main reason for a carpc is for pandora capability in the car but if I couldn't get street deck to run a pandora app then It won't be worth it and I would have to go with the slow and bloated centrafuse

couldnt tell ya gave up on it... for pandora a android tablet may be something you want to look into. i have a galaxy tab in one car and a carpc in the other and the tablet is the cheapest and easiest way to go imo.

There are some other functionality that I would want the PC for that a tab won't cover very well.

                    Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UrWF...eature=related

This will show you how to add an external application to StreetDeck, assuming you have an application for Pandora within Win7.

If you would like to create new skins, add-ons, digi-mods, etc then open their Development Environment from the Start Menu. Check out their website for more information and I am glad to help where I can.
