  • What is the startup delay for the Streetdeck hardware bundle?

From searching around on the forums, it sounds like most people say that for the Opus 120W power supply (included in the Streetdeck bundle), there's about a 4 second delay from turning on the ignition until the computer starts booting up. On my system, it is more like a 12 second delay before the machine starts booting up. That seems like an EXCESSIVE amount of time to allow for engine cranking. Is there a problem with my system, or are others seeing a 12 second bootup delay?

Mine is around 8-10seconds. Im considering a new power supply because of it.

Wow...all of the posts in this thread were deleted. :-o

Anyways...I ended up getting the M2-ATX power supply whcih takes maybe 2-3 seconds to start-up. The main problem is with the Pentium M motherboard that comes with the current bundle. Resuming from Hibernation is VERY slow as compared to some of the VIA based carputers out there.

All the hardware out there is different.

I have used the M1 in the past and have no problem booting/resuming the computer. And i used a PIII mobo.

There maybe settings in the bios to change boot time, i.e. quick boot etc.
Also, if you have a slower revolution HDD i will take longer. Maybe you would consider buying an HDD rated at 7200rpm as upposed to 6400.

There are also the Flash based drives for fast boot, thats always an option.

Lastly, with the opus or M2 are there settings to change boot delay? I think some psu's can be adjusted

Edit: I think mine took maybe 8 sec.

Remeber the more ram you have the longer the boot time. i.e. a pc with 256MB ram will take a quarter of the time to boot than one with a gig (when i say boot i mean resume from hibernation)

Yes my iBase resume from S4 is much slower, but then I switched to a 4200 rpm Hitachi "ruggedized" Endurastar when I upgraded from a VIA MB (to SD and MapPoint) - so I don't know where the lag is coming from.

ps My start-up delay with an Opus 120W is 10 seconds +.

10s is the shortest startup/shutdown delay you can set with the 120W PS and I think that has a settle-down interval as well.
