    Questions #1

In the manual on page 18 it states that:

"videos can only play while not in motion; if the vehicle begins moving, any playing video automatically minimizes."

How does the StreetDeck monitor vehicle movement for video playback?

GPS? Vehicle Speed Sensor? Parking Break on/off?

    Question #2

Are there any other features that are disabled due to movement of the car or is video playback the only one?

    Thanks

P.S. So far everything I have read about this system is very intriguing! I think I will wait until the Bluetooth support is available before I purchase one, but I might not be able to hold out that long

Speed is monitored by GPS. When our enabler hardware with bluetooth becomes available, it will be locked out by parking brake sensor.

Video, Pictures, Settings, Onscreen Keyboard use and a few other modules are not permitted while in motion.

For how long does car have to be stopped? After 5 minutes of trying at 0 MPH, I restarted SD. Also, -TestMode didn’t help.

Few more questions – or bugs

Is there a way that playlist can survive restart like "all" can?
While driving town streets, NAV would speak "in 2 miles make right ..." - can it repeat this in 1/2 mile and then in 200 yards?
Is "Ding when arriving at a turn ..." instead of speaking profanity for missed turn?
Often SD is loosing settings (NAV, gestures) - this might be SD multi-instance related

      Thanks

How exactly are you going to make a generic parking break sensor? The parking break is different for every car, some are a cable, others are electric, some are a hand break, and others have a foot traction break, and others let the auto gear box take car of it.

GPS is a much better solution, + i can disable it that way :P

The parking break sensor will work the same way every invehicle DVD player does. There shoudl be a wire in your car to indicate the parking brake.

Yes GPS is a much better solution, but the law states video can only be enabled when in park, not just when stopped.

I'll look into the playlist issue, it should survive no matter what.

The number of times you speak a navigation direction before a turn is made is a term of the NAVtech license agreement with mappoint so speaking it multiple times would violate this.

The multi instance bug is fixed in 1.0.4.2

Can map colors be changed for driving at night?
Could someone nice, please, post SD girder GML file or script for Un/Mute Playing Media or Play / Pause
              Thanks

You don't need to use girder or GML files. Streetdeck supports girder functions natively, just put the plugin the StreetDeck plugins directory and configure it in StreetDeck through input plugins under settings.

You can change any of the map colors in the skin editor. There is currently no way to switch map colors on the fly for night driving.

I would like to change the skin if GPS would let me. I guess GammaControl is my best option, for now.

TaskSwitch is Girder plugin – Configure is greyed-out in SD. How does one configure plugin in SD, any help file to read? Are A,B,C… events or actions?
I am trying to pause SD playing media on incoming SMS or tel. call (via PhoneControl which does not control SD) and resume playing when SD comes to foreground again. So do I need Lua script (or SendMessage plugin) OR this can all be done within SD?

                  Again, thank you.

StreetDeck only works with girder input plugins. It does not do anything for plugins that recieve events, it only responds to ones that generate them.

You can use the SendMessage API to control StreetDeck externally.

Ok, if someone else needs it, here is Girder GML file that will Play StreetDeck and will Pause StreetDeck whenever is not in foreground.
Girder needs SendMessage and TaskSwitch plugins enabled.
Test was done with StreetDeck 1.0.4.1 and Girder 3.3.7 but others should also work.
