  • Need help with Ripping a disk in SD

    Hello,

I know im the god of annoying questions but im assure you i do research first. I didnt see it in the manual or when searching so now im asking.

When I put a store bought music CD in the optical drive, SD auomatically plays the disk. I know this is just a setting but what I really want to do is rip it to the HD. So I changed the setting anf the media options come up and ask what type of media is on the disk. When i hit the music icon, it goes to the next part and it wont list any of the music on the disk so i can rip it.

So here im asking, what do I need to do to rip music into an mp3 format in SD?

    I appreciate all feedback!

I think you'd need a plugin to encode audio CDs to MP3 files. I don't believe one exists presently.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

I use a program called CDex, it's pretty fast, and has alot more encoding options than media player.

StreetDeck will rip your cds for you by itself.

If you want to rip a cd, you can insert it, then goto Music | More Options | CD-Rom / USB then select your CD-Drive and click "Copy Folder". Specify a name for the Album and it will copy and encode the CD files to your music library.

Alternatively, you can goto "Settings | Music" and uncheck automatically play audio CDs when they are inserted, and StreetDeck will prompt you to rip them to your music collection when you insert an audio cd.

At first glance it appeared to be copying the .CDA files from the disc, does it do the encode job after copy?

If you have a bitrate set to encode them in the music settings.

I would think it would handle the music rip just like Windows Media Player handles it no?

I am away from my SD unit to test, but if it had a queue for the encode jobs, and ripped the raw cd to this queue at full speed.. this would be an awesome feature!!

You could even play the raw files from the media player if they have not been encoded yet..
