  • Mangled text

    Hi all,

I finally installed the streetdeck demo onto my laptop to see how it works, maybe get it for my carPC. However, it seems like all the text is all garbled. If I go into edit mode, I can change the font to make it all readable, but even the cursor position indicators show garbled values. I have XP SP2, and the latest directx drivers. Has anyone seen this in their installs?

    Thanks,
    -Dave

Moved to the StreetDeck forum so Chuck will see it.

How about a screenshot of the "garbled text"? It might help to troubleshoot.
Also, if you run Streetdeck with the -verbose switch and upload the log file, Chuck can analyze it to see where the problem is.

Also, did you install all the suport software, as well?
Lastly, are you logged into Windoze as a user w/ Administrator rights?
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

      RE: mangled text

Here are three screen-grabs from the development environment, because suddenly I can't get into normal mode. Notice in the third shot, you see the x/y coordinates are screwed up, too.

Oh, I am admin on this windoze machine.

      Thanks for your help!

I tried reinstalling. Same problem. I didn't go through and clean out my registry before reinstalling, though.

For those interested parties: I'm trying to run Streetdeck on an IBM laptop @ 1024x768 resolution on an S3 gfx chipset.

Try renaming the fonts sub folder in the skin directory. Your graphics card probably just can't load the large textures that are used for the fonts.

:-/ that fixed the problem, but now I have 2 problems:

can I be sure my application motherboard will be able to deal with the textures?

My streetdeck demo expired before I could test any features.

Thanks again for your help! Hopefully I can get an extension on my demo to actually see what Streetdeck is all about.

1.0.5.5 will reset the timeout when it become available. If you had a font issue and it was solved by deleting the fonts directory, I would recommend upgrading your video card as your performance will probably be sub par in various areas.
