You can't using Mono or .Net...you will need to PInvoke.

Is that FE designed in WPF?

Thanks for your reply. I know that Mono does not support access to audio and power managment function because different implementations that each OS uses. The problem is that I can not find for Mac a tools that allow me to see the functions inside the system libraries and so I do not know how call function to manage voleme and power.

When frontend start recognizes the operating system and start needed assemblies through a plugin system.

The software don't use WPF it is completely free from MS tecnology like Winform or DirectX and uses gtk to draw on the video so it is very portable. I test it on Linux too, it starts but crashes when access to fs because of this os fs is case sensitive. As soon if I can get it to work on Mac and Windows will begin to correct those bugs that do not allow me to load the skin on Linux.

I'm surprised none of the apple developers have chimed in....I too am interested in this functionality so if you figure it out please share There is SDK documentation of the audio libraries here:
              http://developer.apple.com/audio/
              so hopefully that helps.

Shutdown/Restart you could always use this as a shortcut:
              http://ss64.com/osx/shutdown.html
I think that's what the mono team was actually recommending.
