Part 2 using an Ipad2 to control a few HVAC commands and others on the Can Bus wirelessly. My goal is to create an actual IOS app which will allow the removal of the stock head unit completely. This has been an issue because the HVAC controls are built into it. This will remedy that.....

Yes, I hope to see you guys next week sometime. Next step is to add the stock head unit steering wheel controls and then create an IOS app for the Ipad/phone. This will finally allow the use of aftermarket head units in this type of vehicle. The HVAC controls are built into the stock head unit making it almost impossible to replace with aftermarket options.

Its come a long way since this: lol

It is a custom programmed Can Bus module that is connected to the Low Speed GMLAN network.

I am going to have to ask.... If i may

Are you possibly by chance with some luck.. looking to share some of the work you have been doing in the form of interfaces/circuits and/or scripts/software

Very shortly i will be finally building something but have still yet to find all i need to not waste to much time experimenting...Once new resources run out,, then its time to make guess work out of the rest..

anyway,, Looks good and keep it up. nice car as well

Very cool! I've been wondering if I could do this for my wife's Prius and replace its antiquated NAV system with an iPad, while you've actually been doing it! I just wanted to thank you for blazing this trail!

Thanks, I wish I could take credit for the progress so far but I have been working with another company to get this made. The idea is to port this to different cars one by one. Each vehicle has different capabilities on the GMLAN. Once I have a working IOS app, it will be easy to modify it to each car. Now, who can help me get the App made???!!)at a reasonable cost......lol

Hey what ever gets the technology out there is the best start for anyone.
As for the software, try talking with liamcrayden

He has listed "Mac OS X (from 10.4 to 10.7 Lion)" on the post of I am a programmer .. give me some software to write! (LINK) but you never know.

If you end up aiming for windows then yell out on this end.

Having the opportunity to see this vehicle first hand in Las Vegas last week, i can honestly say that this is the level of integration we all should be seeking from our car PC systems in late model vehicles. Incredible amounts of time and effort have been placed in this car and it truly shows. Now we just have to get an iOS guy to write some front end software for this guy!

Absolute great job on the car so far Nate and I enjoyed meeting you.

Being able todo this level... is not the question, having the funds is.
