  • Touchscreen-specific frontend found...

    Hey all,
Just found this, which somebody might find useful...I personally think the skin could use some work, but that's what we do here . Good to have more options.

That's pretty interesting. Once I get my MM I'm just going to download and buy as many frontends as possible and see if I can't get a good comparison going. Have you used it yet?

I have been in touch for some time wih this guy. He had another software called the SimiliPod. I actually sent him an email to see if he could develop something new as a frontend. After some email exchanges and ideas, I see that he has finished this project. I guess it wasnt hard to compile it since all he did was to use the Similipod engine and skin it differentl and add Video support.

No, haven't used it yet -- I'm a Mac user in general, but my carPC is an XP machine (needed good nav software, otherwise I'd just spend my days wandering the countryside, trying to get home )

            You can download it here:

I think all it needs is a nice skin and few bugs fixed, but it looks very promissing. The thing is all the actual application work in the background. Its basically a remote skin for iPohot, iTunes and Quicktime.

nice. don't like the skin, but shows the concept can be done. however, i would be weary of using any apple patents in my software *points to Ipod like scroll wheel* Apple very much defends its stuff.

No, but I did . On the front page, under the screenshot, the second sentence is "Time limited Demo version ( 31.3.2005 )" -- in my haste to get the news posted, I assumed that meant non-free and didn't bother to read the "Online Purchase" section, in which it states that the software is free. That'll teach me to post before coffee...

The download doesn't work for me? Is it removed from the server?

SimiliPod is about 25% of the TactPlayer code .... not so easy to compile !

thank you for posting:-) it seems like many of the front ends for mac are coming out slowly, but so far your's is the only one that seems to be functional. i've linked you up on the front end links since the majority of the ones I've been seeing in the past month are no-where near alpha status.
