Search the Power Supplies forum. There's much discussion of hard drives there, with other peoples' experiences. It may or may not be of help, but it will give you some insight to a long-runnign debate.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

I can't imagine that the Silverado is harsher than the Mini or some of the other cars with Mini's in them. I haven't had any problem with mine and haven't heard of any other crashes. The Mini has a laptop drive inside and they tend to handle abuse pretty well.

I think you may have gotten a bad drive.

Mine has sort of skipped during song playback before. But nothing too serious. A couple of my songs have had to be reloaded after developing problems. Mine gets hammered! I was driving on 18" wheels and 35 series tires until my tires had no tread left. This is on a MINI Cooper. With 15 inch wheels the ride is way smoother. I also had some skipping during heavy acceleration (Burn out launches and catching a 2nd). Overall I'm pleased with the performance. I would like to get a backup external hard drive to work with in the house and then quickly transfer it all to the Mac Mini when needed.

if your HD skips at all you have something wrong with your install or hardware.
Check for loose connections or poorly mounted hardware.

            Experienced the same thing

I was getting the same grey screen crash before I Hard wired the mac mini to the p1900. I thought it was crashing from overheating, but since I wired it to the p1900, I haven't had any problems.

set your iTunes buffer to Large... it'll use more memory, but it'll reduce disk related problems....(i hope!)

To say the least, mine gets hammered as well. I drive a 350z w/ eibach suspension and 19" wheels. An allready harsh sports car has been made even harsher. I am yet to have a problem, have had a little hard drive lag every once and a while. What I really worry about is the heat and its effect on the CPU internals. I live in atlanta. Needless to say it gets HOT down here.
