  • MAC Rookie Here

I made the switch to a MAC by purchasing a MAC Mini for my car, it's running 10.4.7. I'm playing around on it and ran the software update, it came back with 14 needed/optional updates.

My question is should I install all the updates or are there any I should avoid?

    TIA,
    B.

...and like and unlike windows, you cannot reverse them. once you apply, you have them for good.

usually the word is to wait a few weeks in production mode...and when there are no complaints about the patch, then apply.

I wouldn't worry about the last patch. It won't kill your mac. I'm part of a six person shop that manages over 2000 macs that run osx and we haven't had any problems with it.
        Failure is not an option....

It's installed by default on every version of Windows.

we have problems with 10.4.8 with Checkpoint VPN not recognizing gateways and the internal wireless cards on the macbooks and macbook pros "forgetting" past wireless points in a shop of 100+ macs. there were no changes to our network, and tested on our 3 test machines first before mass deploy. the 5,000+ PCs have no problem with wireless or Checkpoint. we had to stay at 10.4.7 due to those issues.

That's good to know. I don't believe anyone here is using vpn so that never cropped up.
