  • Force XP to cnnect to network immediately.

This involves hardware and software so hopefully it's alright in this forum. I have a motorola droid in which I have rooted and have wifi tether (Droid is mobile router). I setup the connection and it works great. First off I cannot make the droid network a preferred connection in the advanced settings, it is labeled as an "On Demand" connection. What I want to be able to do is get in the car, turn on my droids SSID transmission and have XP connect immediately without having to manually make it connect. Is there a way to make XP refresh/ search for a network in intervals of 10 seconds or so?

I just got a droid as well, pretty neat device.

How did you turn it into a wireless router? The dudes at verizon said I couldn't tether a droid?

You CAN tether using the PDANET app on the market, and the phone needs to be "Rooted" to make it a wifi transmitter. More info here.

PDANET is a much easier option to use with the usb cable.

P.S. The dues at verizon are idiots. It's a grey area and they can't tell you that you can, but they know it can be done.

If you go the droid wifi tethering route... keep an eye on your phone's temperature. Me and two other people thus far have reported phone overheating issues when using wifi tethering :/
