  • Need help with MPXPlay: ATTN those with keypads and Char LCDs

    I got sick of waiting for Windows to boot, so I'm going to DOS. I've never used MPXPlay before, and I need some help.

    I've got a 40x4 LCD on my parallel port, and I'm using a keypad for control. If anyone has a keypad and a 40x4 LCD, could you please post your configuration file to get me started? Thanks in advance.

    Also, is there anything in MPXPlay (or any DOS program) that will give me the some way to scroll through all the songs on my HD on LCD and choose one to play? (like the Songs menu in Markus' Winamp plugin)

    Also, what command switches, etc does everyone use when starting MPXPlay?

    I`m running a 16x4 lcd, with MPXPLAY with no problems. All you need to do set the corrent lcdtype value in mpxplay's INI file.

    All the info you need is in the text files that come with mpxplay.

    Setting it up for a keypad doesn`t take too much effort either... again, a few things changed in the INI file, and your'e done!

      Yea, I can figure it out myself, but I'd like to see what other people have come up with, and I also can't figure out how to make the following scroll across the top line:

      "Artist - Song"

      Would it be something like this?:

      LCD_items=1,a_center,LINESCROLL,p_ARTIST," - ",p_TITLE

      Then I read that you can't align multiple items like that. Also, what's the difference between ARTIST and p_ARTIST?

      EDIT: added more questions to post #1

        I think you can you can align multiple items like that, I reakon that line you gave above should work (add a comma on the end). Try it and see!

        Since you asked for it, heres my example of my setup, and i even commented the lines for you:

        LCD_items =2,1,p_entrynum, ;displays song no
        LCD_items =2,6,P_TIMEPOS,"/",P_SONGTIME, ;shows song position and duration
        LCD_items =2,16,s_rn, ;shows if i have shuffle mode on
        LCD_items =1,-1,LINESCROLL,pathname,"-",TITLE," ", ;scrolls the complete path and title of the song

        Also, ARTIST displays the artist currently playing, while p_artist currently displays the name of the artist selected in the playlist.
