  • Auto dimmer (with GPS or LON/LAT position)

NEW: Dimmer now supports GPS-Receivers with NMEA protocols.

remember that this is a beta version, cause i don't had much time to test, so please give me feedback!

I just coded a program that automatically dims your monitor gamma.
It locates at your position (lonitude & latitude) where the sun is and dim the monitor if its dark.
Also you have a manual mode any MANY more really nice features.
If you set the COM port to "none", the manual lat and long settings are used!

sounds like what my plugin AutoDimmerControl does for CF. Wonder if you had as much trouble converting the lat/lon values to adjusted time values lol. Good work. Put it up on AutoAppMart and i bet it'll receive some love!

Got it. Works great. Just one question, is it possible to get the LAT and LON from the GPS as the current location?

A GPS reading function would be relly awesome, for me as it would be for you!
But, then the program runs really unstable.

If there is a fault with the GPS data received from the GPS mouse, the display starts to dim or undim.
The same if there is something wrong with the communication.
                      That would be relly annoying.

The most stable method is to put in the coordinated manually.

Does it work in when underground or very dark & cloudy?

I know light sensors under $2 do the same thing - whenever it is dark, and without the need for a PC or GPS.

                              Hello,

I've been using this for a few years and it works great. I do have one request though. I need to set a truly custom dimming percentage. For my monitor 50% is too dark and 40% is too bright. Is there any way to enter a manual number like 45%?

                              Thanks again!

                              Richard
