  • linux app preview (windows too)

So I've been working away and got a few screenshots. So everyone that says why not use dashPC I always say I hate the way it looks.

image note: I have downgraded the jpeg quality so it looks a bit blurry. I don't wanna hammer my work desktop with image requests. I only have a t1 here

Here is the main screen. This is just to show you a button (gui/text) can be placed where ever the skin maker wants.

Here is a screen shot of the playlist menu. The song you have scrolled to or your mouse is over will turn yellow

Here is the audio file playing. The idea is for the green box to show what is being played. Right now if the song advances by itself it doesn't move.. but if i click on a new song it'll move. Also I need to add a header and read id3 info. Right now those are just file names.

If anyone, linux or windows, wants to beta test let me know. I'll send. Linux people will need to install some packages will windows people I'll just have to convert it into an exe and send you a zip. There's nothing more you need.

Note to the RIAA: All those songs are ripped.. thats the story and i'm sticking to it

for the people that wanted to try this out. I have a memory leak in my ImageButton. For some reason its only a leak in linux and works fine on windows. Once I get that cleared up I'll send the app out

peterj, I don't have a touchscreen but i'm making it so you can navigate fully with a mouse.

ext apps is in the future and that should be easy to do.

on a windows note.. i'm not sure if it'll work on windows in the future, but who knows.

i'll have a windows release out soon. My config file actually gets built into the exe so you can't set the location of your mp3s.

                here is the linux source.

                http://homer.meso.com/crap/mediaZ.tar.gz

Read the INSTALL.txt file to setup all the needed libraries. All you will need to do is edit config.py to your meet your needs and run

                python main.py

If that does not work IM me or email me and I'll try to offer you some help. This is pre-alpha so there are some bugs.. mainly in the playlist.

A windows version should be out soon.. I just have to make a way so that windows users can setup a config.

I just played with in on windows, not too bad. I haven't tried it while ON my CarPC, just via VNC.. But it was fun I'll give it a shot later, while in car. Sadly my car isn't wired yet, so the PC isn't hooked up to my sound system
