    Update on AIPC:

I have given aiPC another facelift. This time, I am running the whole interface in modules. Music player is a module, so is the video player, GPS etc. The good thing about the modular interface is that I can now make windows open up in a specific size and at a specific position. Now, when you run a external GPS application, it will look as if it belongs to AIPC since AIPC menu will always visiable on top.

Hopefully everything should be able to go by tomorrow or the day after.

As it turns out, modules are a pain to do and AutoPlay kept giving all the modules the same class names and the same child name so I can't bring them back to the front since computer thinks they are already at the front. So as we speak, modules are on hold till I change the development tools.

However, I like the new interface a lot that I will end up keeping that. If anything, this will most likely be the final product while using AutoPlay MediaStudio.

Here is what it looks like. Look at the GPS menu though. That's the way I want the GPS screen to look like so that I can move between applications.

What are most people using? I only have composite screen so I can only do 800x600 or 640x480. What is the exect resoultion that liliput screen or VGA widescreen screen handle? I heard 800x480. Does it only show up 800x480 or does it take in 800x600 and stratch it? It it can take 800x480, I can make it so that the interface is only 800x480. I am getting the VGA screen anyways.

                here's my newest idea:
have a built in dvd player, using the video menu interface
when the dvd drive senses a dvd, autorun opens it in AiPC, and therefore i don't have to exit the prog, open up the movie, and play it on another application...then close that and restart AiPC
                thoughts...?
                hehe 2 more things:
make backgrounds easily customizable and/or use a more widely-varying color scheme with possible customizations to it...?

liking the progress alot, looks great
i hate to say it, but im using mediaengine at the moment, mostly because its interface kicks ***...now i think your program is much better, but it just feels dull to me...my suggestions would liven it up alot i think...looking to switch over either way

                thanks,

I initially used ME and myHTPC. Both are great but they are not fully done my way and I think are missing a couple of things. I never had the need for the DVD player but I can add that feature in there.

Current app to create AiPC is called Autoplay MediaStudio. The application is easy to learn but it is missing a couple of things. One of them is a skinning feature. I am trying to get around it though. With the current trouble I am having with the modular layout, I may abandon autoplay and go a different route, keeping the interface layout.

I do agree the current interface is alittle dull. I do not want ton of colours on there. It looks like a stock unit in the car I think but I will try to make a skinning app so that people can make their own skins for the aiPC.

as for color scheme, check out this guy's install

yes i know its media engine, but notice the subtle, yet very attractive background (i realize that it would only work for someone WITH an audi, but its that sort of detailed, yet simple background that gets people's attention). if a neutral image of that caliber could be used, and maybe have a selectable color to match each car's interior style, that would be AWESOME. it might involve some good photoshopping to make one, but im sure there's lots of great images on the web.

i realize its much easier to say i want something than for you to do it, but im just suggesting possible features/ideas that would raise more interest in your program over the other programs out there. good luck with the project!

How about if I released a bunch of photoshop files with it? You can photoshop your own skin and put them in the right directories.

The colour scheme on the audi ME skin is pretty good. However, if I was a cop, and I had had pulled over this guy, there is no way in hell that he is going to be able to convince me that that particular skin is a stock setup. I will release the adobe photoshop files so that you guys can layer your own images A little more colour is nice but too much can get you into trouble really quickly.
