  • Is there a media engine that integrates DiVX player 2.0?

I have noticed that if I watch Divx movies with any player but the proprietary Divx player, I can't skip to parts in the movie because the audio and video take too long to get back in sync. I have tried MP9 and Core Media mostly, but both have long sync times.

So my question is, can any of the media engines integrate the DivX player 2.0 rather than Microsoft's Media Player?

Can it be integrated with an open source project?

try my aipc. you can use anything you want to use. It's more of a menu on top really to quickly change applications.

Encode your movies with more frequent Keyframes. The current standard is to insert 1 keyframe every 10 seconds, and a keyframe when there is a 50% or more change in the image between 2 frames (Ex: a scene change)

If you do that, you shouldn't have problems with sync.

Quick question, can I go back and insert more keyframes into already encoded movies?

Not that I am aware of unless you reencode it.

I believe you can if you use nandub. Go to the open window and check the box labled pop up extended options. Then select the box labled "rederive keyframes." select ok and wait a few hours while your machine chugs away at it. When its done, Save it somewhere (don't overwrite the original) and see if it's fixed.

This might however, just rebuild the keyframes that are already there, usefull if you have a Divx file thats missing it's index. I'd check the Divx-digest.com fourms. For more usefull information. I've not played with encoding for quite some time.

I'll have to look into that, thanks.
