  • Skinners, what would you prefer

I am working on yet another piece of car software, and will be releasing more info in a few more weeks, but I wanted to get some input from the people that are out there reskinning all the released apps.

Right now, my app has a macromedia flash front end. This lets people who know flash do a lot more than the simple reskinning that people are doing with more of the other apps, but requires people that want to make skins to have Flash. I could also run with a more "normal" skin setup, with seperate image files for each button and background and whatnot.

Doing both is also possible, but is a bit more work.

Is there a clear preference for one of these options or the other or should I be doing both?

    probably should do both.
I like the idea of using flash but i would also like to use standard images too at the same time. You should treat flash items the same as images, that way i can have the background be flash with images layered on top if i wanted and or vise versa.

      Flash. Flash. Flash.

The possibilities are endless with flash.

Hmm. I think doing both is not too hard, but I was looking at doing the Flash UI as a fullscreen type of thing, where the entire UI would be one big Flash movie. I will do some thinking about how to set it up to do individual buttons as Flash elements. That might be the best way to go.

        Thanks for the feedback.
